According to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez, the Padres designated pitcher Eulogio De La Cruz for assignment today to make room on the roster for Chad Gaudin. The Padres had acquired De La Cruz from the Marlins a month ago for a player to be named later or cash. Paul DePodesta had a glowing review at that time.

Cruz's fastball sits around 93-96, so obviously someone else is going to give this guy a shot.
But he's really going to need to improve his command if he ever wants to have an extended stay in the majors.
The guy has 21 walks in his 19 career big league innings, and there's simply nothing good that can come from that.

He doesn't belong on a major league roster anyways. I seen him against the Pirates, his stuff doesn't make up for his god awful control. I think he walked five guys in only two innings.
