The Mariners signed Guillermo Pimentel to a bonus of $2MM, according to ESPN.com's Jorge Arangure Jr.. Pimentel signed the contract as the clock struck midnight on July 2nd, the earliest moment he was eligible.

ya good job Seattle get some young tallent. Who knows mabye he might be up if he has good winter ball he could be up in a year or 2 bc i expect griffy will retire this year or next.

You do realize that there is little to no chance that this kid will be up for another 4 or 5 years right? He is not an older Cuban defector but a young raw athlete. The kid is 16, and makes to at best to the US at 17. You are talking about a long term project not a quick fix that can be up in a year or 2.

Very doubtful the Pimentel is up in a year or two.. Especially since he just turned 16 years old. An optimistic timetable would be more like 5-6 years.
Good sign by Seattle though.

All true, but to be fair....that's 16 in Latin American years, so maybe he just turned 18? :D
