honestly, pedro should just retire. its sad to see how far hes fallen, he was the best pitcher of the last decade in my opinion, and now he gets treated like he has swine flu. it really upsets me as a sox fan

If anyone has been mistreated, it has been anyone that has come into contact in the past 6 months with this egomaniac.
As for his pitching line today, I'm sure the hitters were giving it their all at a tryout by one of the most beloved baseball players this little baseball-crazed nation has ever seen. Think Black Sox Scandal on a much smaller level...

Pedro gets treated like swine flu because he's been a gimp for three years with quickly diminishing stuff, he has a terrible attitude and he's a money-grubbing punk. Other than that, he totally deserves everyone's respect.

Pedro throwing at 86mph and that small ballpark in Philly are a bad, bad match.
Petey needs to go somewhere like San Diego...
Better yet, the man needs to find a chair- the music's over.

I can't wait until Pedro makes every one of you eat crow. I will be mentioning it when it happens.

Kind of funny - the Phils broadcasters say how they saw Ruben before the game but had the Phil's assist GM on the air during the game tonight. I never knew the Phils had an assistant GM. Ruben always joins these guys during the broadcast, so why wouldn't he tonight? And why all the smoke screen to sign a 37 year old guy who by all accounts is washed up?

Ruben has this bazarre no comment/refusal to talk about any player in any FA or trade discussions. I remember in the offseason he refused to even mention anyone by name, and now he wont even talk about pedro. It seems like other GMs at least acknowledge their interest in specific players on other teams.

Maybe he likes to play baseball?

Then why sit out half the year waiting for someone to pay him what he wants?
If he loved playing baseball, he probably would have signed for 2 million at the start of the season and actually been playing the game to this point. Instead, he held out for his demands, most likely prorated, and will be playing half as long for about the same amount.
The above points to Pedro loving Pedro, and the idea he can still get the total he wants on a contract, even if the amount pocketed is only a portion of the number.
