« Rays Sign Todd Glaesmann | Main | Odds & Ends: Anderson, Rangers, Brew Crew »
5:12pm: MLB.com's Mark Sheldon says the deals for Leake and Boxberger aren't done yet. The players still have to take physicals, which could push the signings back to Monday.
3:09pm: According to Jim Callis of Baseball America, the Reds have agreed to terms with their top two picks from June's First-Year Player Draft. Right-hander Mike Leake, taken eighth overall, signed for $2.27MM while right-hander Brad Boxberger, taken in the supplemental first round, signed for $857K. Both bonuses exceed MLB's slot recommendations.

They had to sign Leake after dealing away Stewart and Roenicke, along with Volquez going down for 2010.
He'll never be anyone's ace, but he's a consistent guy with good command of solid stuff, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the fast track to the majors, he's going to take a lot less development than most of the guys in the draft.

Ok with the numbers I saw posted on Leake I would be shocked if he is not a number one or at worst a number two pitcher. Look at all the college level awards he has won. I figure he will be in the majors in probably 2 years.
