Bring Mattingly over to manage the Pirates!

I'm sure if I'm mattingly the best place to manage next year is Cleveland or he should wait til the mets fire manuel.

mattingly is the dodger's hitting coach... the dodgers's manager recently announced he plans to retire after next season. im thinking he's throwing his name out there for that job more than anything else.

Hopefully Mattingly waits for the mets to fire manuel and goes to them

got to agree with elmedius, Donny Baseball is the Dodger manager-in-waiting.

I also have to agree with elmedius. The timing just makes too much sense. Not to mention that it's unlikely that he'd say he wants to leave while the team is in the NLCS.

Mattingly's son is also a shortstop prospect in the Dodgers organization. Not sure if he's good enough to come up, but I'm sure that would be enough reason for him to stick around.

Makes more sense for Mattingly to wait for Torre to retire and inherit that incredibly talented team.

Wasn't there an article a few days ago that said Donny did not think he would replace Joe in LA? SF missed a real chance when they resigned Bochy. It would have been a real coup to steal Mattingly from the Dodgers after how much he has helped their young hitters progress and the wealth of knowledge he has gained from Torre and all the other great managers he has played under.

Mattingley knows he has the LA job if he wants it. It was essentially said by Torre that Mattingley would replace him. He was supposed to be the manager of NYY after Torre and Torre recomended him, but they picked Girardi.
If he does leave, it wouldnt neccesarily be too bad. We could ger Rudy Jaramillo to be the hitting coach and have Schaffer be the next manager...

Preston Mattingly is a bust who had a .647 OPS in the hitter's paradise that is the High-A Cal League. He'll be lucky to be in baseball by the time his dad gets his first managerial gig.

Even though Mattingly is the presumed person to replace Torre doesn't mean he will be. Remember how the Yankees treated him?
And Preston Mattingly is still young. Hes a project

P. mattingly was one of the few really bad picks by White. He wasnt really expected to be anything more than a utility guy when he was drafted, but was our 1st pick.

He was not the Dodgers 1st pick. Clayton Kershaw went before him and then there was another. Mattingly was the Dodgers 3rd pick at 31st overall. Facts

chedder, you're right. Kershaw was our first pick that yr, he was our 2nd overall and our 1st in the round btwn the 1st and 2nd(cant remember the name.) Still he was a waste of a 2nd pick, where Joba and Trevor Cahill were both drafted shortly thereafter him...
