Phillies Release Brad Wilkerson

The Phillies released outfielder Brad Wilkerson and 11 other minor leaguers, tweets's Todd Zolecki.  Wilkerson was thought to have retired, but he signed a minor league deal with no Spring Training invite back in February.

He must have looked in really lousy shape when he showed up for them to let him into two games then turn him loose.

It’s pretty sad that the answer to Wilkerson or Soriano turned out to really be neither after not very long.

Wilkerson came to camp in great shape. He performed well defensively and starting to hit the ball. The Phils must have been a little intrigued by allowing him to play in 3 big league games as a non-roster invitee. Just got caught up in the Phillies number’s game….they are loaded at the corners. He’ll re-surface somewhere.
I do feel SAD for Soriano and the path his career has taken him. YEAH RIGHT!

Wilkerson is a class act and still a useful talent. I hope he can still land somewhere!!
