The Rays and Yanks could definitely use him. Both would utilize him as a DH and occasionally at 3rd/1st. If healthy, he seems like a better option than Alvarez or Carter given he can field 2 positions.

I’d like to see him in Atlanta, would be another solid addition to a lineup that is coming together.

I absolutely love Valbuena as a platoon player. solid defense at 3rd, high walks, not too many strikeouts and ever improving power numbers. 2 fWAR and 2.6 bWAR in just 90 games last year. A hard contact % of around 34 % over the last 3 years suggests an improved babip in the future. Any team needing corner infield depth should really looking into this guy

I wouldn’t mind Valbuena as a Brave. He could be a reasonable replacement for Garcia if last season’s production is an allusion, though Valbuena’s production is probably an allusion also.

I think your allusion is to the term “illusion” — of a fleeting or temporary nature.
Valbuena’ production is pretty consistent, though not of a high level.
Garcia’s? As you allude, it remains to be seen.
strostro
Doesn’t get rave reviews at 3rd base

2014 was a horrible year for him with the glove, but besides that season he hasn’t been all that bad. Considering that the Braves utilized Iron Glove candidate Adonis Garcia there last season I don’t think Braves fans would think too terribly of his defensive skills in comparison. I think that Valbuena definitely good be a nice addition to the Atlanta team.

Stick him at first in Toronto. Balances the lineup, adds obp, allows smoak to come off the bench, and he won’t be too expensive

I’m pretty sure his average went up by 10 points every time he played the Mariners, he killed us.

I like Valbuena as a good bench player, but when did .237 become “respectable?”
vtadave
A .761 OPS is respectable

Look at the other numbers

Valbuena’s agents overinflated his value (Dierkes’ projection was too high) and now they are stuck scrambling. He’ll be lucky to get one year $5 million..
chesteraarthur
I’m not sure that’s correct

The Mets could use him when Wright invariably breaks down again. You can always find a RH to platoon him with, which gives you a nice late inning power hitter off the bench.

But does Luis Valbuena have a problem with pop-up ads?
mcdusty31
He actually ranks as a solid defender against pop up ads on the road during night games
