McAdam: Red Sox Discussing Extension With Lugo

Via RotoWorld:

"The Providence Journal's Sean McAdam said on WEEI radio that the Red Sox have been in contact with Julio Lugo's agents to discuss a contract extension."

Nothing on this from the Boston Globe guys just yet.  The D-Rays are going to have to scramble if they want to get something better than a couple of compensation draft picks for Lugo.  One hour left.

something tells me this would give more leverage for the sox to deal lowell to the pads... especially if ensberg is out of the picture

the D-rays better trade lugo when they still have a chance

This isnt impact!

He's an upgrade over Loretta, at least.

What did Boston give up? I'm hearing Delcarmen and I don't like it.

This would be just silly ... Unless this is a precursor move to another bigger move it seems pointless ... Lugo is not an impact player

lugo would play SS and loretta would remain at 2B

Gonzalaz is fine this is all stupid and Kip Wells is even worse give up some prospects!

I'll say it again like I said in the other thread.... It'd be Lugo replacing Loretta, NOT Gonzo. When they made first contact with Lugo's agent last night they asked if he'd play 2B & his agent responded 'if you pay him like a SS'. Gonzo isn't moving.

I knew that but still that upgrade isnt what the red sox need
