Shea Hillenbrand Designated
According to a Blue Jays source of mine, this is how the Shea Hillenbrand designation went down:
"It seems Hillenbrand and a few (word is two) of his teammates were being
mischievious during yesterday's workout. Gibbons stormed in the clubhouse
like an old den-mother and demanded the pranksters reveal themselves.
Just Hillenbrand stepped forward.
Gibbons blew a gasket. Everyone's face hung open.
Gibb told Hill to take a shower and leave (on his first day back from adopting
a kid).
As the team left for the field, Hill still suited-up and paced in the
clubhouse, not knowing what to do.
Until an in-house courier hand delivered his walking papers.
He then left."
Alright, this is Tim talking again. It seems that Hillenbrand's mischief involved writing "This is a sinking ship" on a chalkboard in the clubhouse. Good times.
The Padres, Twins, Rangers, and Angels have been connected to Hillenbrand at one time or another. While the Pads are the concensus favorite, keep in mind that Kevin Towers and J.P. Ricciardi have never completed a trade with one another before. (As far as I can tell). But hey, there's a first time for everything.

It's being reported that San Deigo is interested in Hillenbrand, with this development, how could this play out with the rumored Ensberg trade to the Pads?

Still not sure Ensberg is really available, and Hillenbrand is more their speed anyway.

If Huff proves he's a viable option at 3rd, I think the 'Stros will move Morgan for the right price. Morgan's issue is he's so streaky and he's been prone to injury and trying to play through it, instead of owning up and dealing with it before it gets worse.

interesting take. I got confused for a bit when your source shorted Hillenbrand's name to "Hill" since they have Aaron Hill up there as well.
He's be outright cut now. I'm assuming he goes to the Angels myself, unless the Angels are really willing to part with decent prospects for a change to get a real bat.

It's nice to see a team take action and cut a player that may be acting up. Hillenbrand hasn't exactly been an Angel in his career.

"Undaunted, the Padres have identified Beltre as their No. 1 target"
