Mariners Sign Chris Reitsma
According to RotoWorld, the Mariners have signed right-handed reliever Chris Reitsma for $1.35MM with an option for '08. Not bad for a guy with an 8.68 ERA, eh?
Reitsma had July elbow surgery (not Tommy John) and hopes to be ready for spring. The 29 year-old is yet another groundballing addition to the Mariner pitching staff (they've already got grounder-lovers Felix Hernandez, Miguel Batista, and Horacio Ramirez).

Guess this trend means the idea of moving Beltre is completely out.

Another big winner for Bavasi. I hope Nintendo likes flushing millions of dollars down the drain.

i dont find this as a bad signing at all. He is a grounball pitcher and they have one of the best middle infields in baseball. actually before last season he was a solid reliever who could spot start every now and then

If I am Bavasi, I think about trading Sexson with a staff like that. The Yankees will take him.

They most definitely will not. The giants we're still the best idea for Sexson. Maybe Benitez and cash, to the Marlins, some prospects to the Seattle, and Sexson to San Fran.

Are the Mariners really TRYING to get worse?? First trading Rafael Soriano for Horacio Ramirez, then signing Chris Rietsma?? Do they honestly think that Rietsma fills the hole left by Sori? Or are they trying to capitalize on former Braves pitchers? Maybe they coul dconvince Bruce Sutter and Niekro to come out of retirement...
Or there's always Eric Plunk, Denny Neagle, and John Rocker!!

Hey, this could be the deal that puts them over the top...
Hehehe...
On the other hand though, its not like the rest of the division is doing much to get better so maybe they do have a shot. They look better losing than the mega-million dollar Angels of
LAAA-LAAA-LAAA do. afterall...

Just watch they'll win the division by 10 games for no understandable reason.

Was I the only one to see reitsma blow 398 saves last year,, he sucks(so do the braves... had to put it)

Reitsma sucks at closer he was reliable for the Braves at setup and middle relieve and plus last year he was hurt

i believe what you do in life depends all on your name, and reitsma... is not a baseball name .. maybe tennis. lmao

While I like the idea of scouting talent based purely on last names, I'm thinking the Nats or the Rockies should adopt this as an organizational philosophy. You would've assumed based on last names that Albert Pujols was going to be the best player in baseball?
Posted by: ArodSucksAtLife | January 08, 2007 at 07:39 AM
I dunno .. pujols is a pretty tight baseball name
