Possible Milton Bradley Suitors
Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle mentions several potential suitors for Milton Bradley in today's column. She names the Padres and Pirates as possibilities, citing connections to Paul DePodesta and Jim Tracy. Additionally, Slusser quotes Billy Beane in saying that he worked on a Bradley trade within the past three weeks but it fell through.
The Pirates, as a noncontender, really don't need to be picking up impending free agents. There's just no reason for it. They need to give as much playing time to young players as possible.
The Padres, though, make a fine fit. Bradley could help them in all three outfield spots, when healthy. John Perrotto confirms interest from both teams.
Meanwhile, the Mets will apparently pass because of Bradley's baggage. Bradley, though, had a relatively peaceful stay in Oakland.

Why aren't the Twins interested in Bradley? They need a CF, when Torii Hunter leaves after the season.

Mets should get interested, even if it's just for a short-term thing...I can't look at Ricky Ledee for another second.
Also, they could move Green to first and bench Delgado's sorry ass when they get healthy (at what point does a sub-.300 OBP and a sub-.400 SLG with poor defense become unacceptable?).

The Pirates should definitely be involved with this, who cares if he is an impending free agent. If he works out, maybe sign him for a few years, either way, the bucos don't need to give Chris Duffy any more looks. He is not the answer in center field, this would be a creative way to find the real answer in center field. There are no other young players (Nyjer Morgan maybe, but he is hurt for a while) the Pirates should be trying in center field. They have plenty of AAAA center fielders, it is time for a major league center fielder.

The Pirates could also grab him knowing they'd get probably at least one top 100 draft pick for him when he walks.

It's becoming more and more obvious to me that this is a deal that Kevin Towers has to make. Who knows how long Brian Giles will be out? On top of that, who knows how effective he'll be when he does come back? I certainly don't see him being an everyday contributer this season. To survive on top of the NL West, a Cruz Jr./Branyon/Bocachica/Sledge platoon in the corners is not going to work. KT has to recognize this. With Chase Headley almost assuredly heading down to AAA soon, they can give the roster spot to Bradley. The only question is what will it take to trade for him. I mentioned in another thread that sending over Scott Cassidy could serve the the A's well but maybe KT has to increase the value a little bit and send over Royce Ring or Andrew Brown. It's certainly worth it to add Bradley's skills to their OF.

Has this site really gotten that much attention that we have to verify our comments after every post? Or am I the only one constantly running into that? Just wondering, 'cause I've never seen spam on here but maybe that's 'cause you guys deleted it before we saw it and were tired of that extra work...

If you want cancer try smoking, at least it will not infect you for awhile.
How many teams has Bradley infected now?

thing is he has been in bad situations with his former teams, and as an A's fan i dont feel like he ever disrupted our teams chemistry. he's done all we could ask of him, when he wasnt injured he was pretty solid.
and as a big padres fan, i believe our team has a strong enough clubhouse that he wouldnt be able to mess it up down here.
he just has to stay healthy and he'd be just fine.
he's a bat the padres just cant afford to pass up. like KT was saying theres no guarantee a big bat will show up this season, and we have to pick up a good bat now. we cant really wait.
besides we would have to give up a lot to get a serious power bat.
we gotta get this guy

Milton Bradley has been in bad situations and that's why he's been a problem?
So playing AA for the Expos was such a bad situation that he had to smack around the owner of the club?
Playing in Cle where they put up with most of his bull but did expect him to run out popups without throwing tempertantrums was a bad situation?
Playing in LA where HE decided to go on local sports stations talking in the third person and bashing his teammates was a bad situation he was put into? And when his play didn't live up to the hype he himself tried to create, the fans booing him and him removing his jersey and throwing objects back into the stands was a bad situation he was put into? Or the "umpire has it out for me" situation where he was forced to throw an entire bucket of balls onto the field is obviously the result of there being something wrong with the situation he was in. Yeah, he was probably arrested for beating his wife just because the situation in LA was no good...
Nah, sorry ~ not buying that... I think its more likely that Oak just quietly brushed a ton under the carpet mixed with him trying to be as good as he possibly could be so he didn't run out of teams to play for by his 10th year in the league. That was about his pace afterall...
I just find it hard to believe a team would release a player just because he was a little bit upset he was left on the DL a couple days longer than he wanted ~ there has to be more we don't know about...
You could put Gameboy in a house full of Monks and he will have problems...
