The Latest on Teixiera
As the Rangers fall further and further out of the AL West race, the rumors about Mark Teixiera keep coming up. But Jon Daniels says he's not making any calls, though he expects to get plenty. Tex would be an upgrade for an awful lot of teams, but the most obvious one is the Yankees, who have both Jason Giambi and Doug Mientkiewicz on the disabled list.
Another interesting destination could be Detroit, where first base duties are being shared by the unimpressive Sean Casey and the underwhelming Marcus Thames. Better yet, the Tigers are stacked with young pitching, so there's no doubt they have the ammo to get a deal done.

I know the Yanks are associated with every big name on the trade market, but I don't see how they get Tex. The Rangers would definitely want Hughes, and probably someone else, and I don't think the Yanks have what it takes to get him...

The Yankees could trade for Teixeira if they wanted to - a package of Jose Tabata, Joba Chamberlain and Dellin Betances would definitely garner Teixeira. Although the Yankees would be stupid to make that trade. They have lots of starting pitching depth behind Hughes, and although it may not be major league ready, it is there. I just don't think they should sacrifice that depth for Teixeira. Not to take anything away from the guy, but young arms are at a premium now moreso than ever, that's all.

Last night, the Detroit FSN commentators said the asking price for Tex is currently Miller, Maybin, plus Casey as a throw-in. Maybin is, I believe, virtually untouchable. The Tigers are hitting the ball right now, and may need Miller to bolster the pitching staff, so I don't think Tex will be going to Detroit unless things change significantly.

if Miller/Maybin is the starting point there is no way the Yanks get Tex for anything less than Hughes. They dont need him enough to trade Hughes.

Dang, if Miller/Maybin is what the Rangers want, there won't be many teams that can even get in conversation with them.
I was hoping the Giants could be in the equation by trading Jonathan Sanchez, but now it looks like a pipe dream. Do they have another great 1B prospect sitting in the minors that can be stolen away, like Hafner and then A-Gon?

Maybin/Miller For Tex huh.
Well it seems like daniels is getting smart, as he finally has convinced me he can recognize talent that he gets in return. However, the fact is, now way in hell that trade happens. I really think the braves could be a player for tex, but we do have salty, and that is what a deal would be centered around. I mean Andruw for tex bedded in a package deal, eh just does not seem likely with andruw struggling. The fact remains though that salty can help out our offense, and we have him for 6 more years. I still believe if the braves are going to trade him, it needs to be for a young pitcher. But heck, Ill admit, if the braves could get tex for salty and thorman with a long term deal likely, I would not mind, just do not thing that scenerio happens
