« Rangers Rumors: Bay, Gagne, Fukudome | Main | Pirates Rumors: Bay, McLouth, Morris »
The Padres have already signed Greg Maddux and Randy Wolf this winter, but GM Kevin Towers isn't done. He's expecting to finish a trade before the Padres leave Nashville. Tom Krasovic thinks it might be Mark Prior or Josh Towers.
Both are said to be non-tender candidates, but surely the Cubs and Jays can work out deals rather than lose the pitchers for nothing. Prior is the high risk high reward guy, Towers is the opposite.

The Padres are offering a case of fish tacos for Prior.

I've heard the padres medical staff is one of the best around.
Hopefully the greatest one in baseballs history and Prior can dominate again

I'm bored, so here are a few suggestions in case there is anyone from the Pirates or Padres front office reading this (hah!):
Maholm, Sanchez, and McLouth for Headley and Antonelli.
Snell and Sanchez for Headley, Antonelli, and a couple other prospects.
Either one would improve the Padres for 2008 and probably 2009 and would dramatically improve the Pirates for 2009 and beyond.
These were just off the top of my head, but I think they could provide a framework to work around.
Sanchez and McLouth for Antonelli?

Padres wont mortgage their future.
They have spent many years just to have a few good prospects. They'll grip tight.

sanchez had one great year, so no way would we jump onto that bandwagon. i would rather have antonelli since he wont be arb. eligible for a while. why would we trade away our two top prospects (that are both top 50 MiLB.com) for a third tier CF?
Headly will be in LF and Antonelli at 2nd come '09, maybe even this year.
Why does everyone smoke out and decide to come up with trade scenarios?
Why don't we just trade Chris Young for Edmonds like I saw someone suggest yesterday... ha!

Must be great to be the Pads and be able to look at any pitcher, since they'll no doubt improve after coming to play in San Diego.
...unless you're David Wells.
