« Marlins Plan To Keep Willis | Main | Beane Has High Asking Price For Haren »
Tracy Ringolsby of the Rocky Mountain News has a list of available players the Rockies like. He names Chris Burke, Mark Redman, Steve Trachsel, Will Ohman, and Chris Capuano as the targets.
Trachsel and Redman we know about; they are two among a slew of starters the Rockies are considering. Capuano is new to the list, however. They'll have some competition from the Cardinals on him.
Burke is an option for second base and a player the Rox liked a year ago for the Jason Jennings deal. Now he'll come ultra-cheap. Mark Loretta is considered a long shot.
The Rockies like Ohman, who the Cubs consider expendable. It's strange, though, because the Rockies are currently shopping a better southpaw reliever in Brian Fuentes. Fuentes wants to close, so Dan O'Down will listen to offers. But it doesn't make sense that a team would surrender a young, eighth-inning ready reliever for Fuentes.

I think the Cubs should go ahead and trade Ohman. We have Eyre, Pignatello, and Cotts to vie for a couple of left handed roles.

what it's going to take to land Capuano? Should be somewhere in the Mets price range, maybe a deal built around Milledge can get it done... oh, yeah, right.

I really hope the Astros don't give away Burke. If nothing else he is a replacement for Eric Bruntlett with a lot higher upside in the stick department.
On the other hand, the Astros have totally screwed the guy that has the biggest swing in franchise history. I wouldn't mind him going somewhere, starting, and killing the Astros every chance he got.

Marshall and Ohman for Ian Stewart?

Do you see the Reds matching up at all for Fuentes? That would probably make it more likely not to re-sign Guardado and maybe they would even cut Stanton loose (We can hope, right?)

I hope they don't give Burke away either, however the only thing he's going to kill facing the Astros is another pop up to the infielders.

I dont see trading Marshall until we see what Prior can do in Spring Training. Prior has the wit most pitchers dont, so even with average stuff he can still be successful.
How about Ohman for Jamie Carroll?
Posted by: namesake49 | December 03, 2007 at 08:54 AM
No interest in Carroll on the Cubs part and I'm sure the Rockies don't want to move Stewart either.
I only threw Stewart out there because he is a lefty bat IF, something the Cubs desperatley want. The Cubs don't want Carroll because he bats right handed and is worse than Theriot and DeRosa.

If Stewart can play 3rd and 2nd, can he play shortstop? I would trade Theriot and Ohman for Stewart, but not Marshall.

No namesake, it's not even clear if Stewart can play 2B. Plus, Theriot doesn't have that much value. Also, the Rockies don't need a 2B/SS guy. They need a starter. Marshall and Ohman may not cut it for Stewart alone.
