« Padres Fail To Acquire Luke Scott | Main | Odds and Ends: Peavy, Ellsbury, Montero, Fukumori »

Rosenthal's Latest: Rolen, Haren, Prior, Hawkins

Ken Rosenthal has some new rumors for us.

  • The Dodgers lead the chase for Scott Rolen, with the Angels also in the mix.  The Giants' Brian Sabean denied interest.
  • The D'Backs view the Athletics' requests for Dan Haren to be quite excessive.
  • Talks between the Padres and Cubs for Mark Prior have cooled.
  • The Rangers offered LaTroy Hawkins a one-year deal with a club option.  As you know, he wants two years.

NO! this is bad, Reagins! Rolen is done.. he's seen his better days. I'd rather get the declining tejada.
Younger! Younger is what we need!

the cubs might as well as trade prior for whatever the can get even if it's an 1978 can of hamm's beer . from how i took it last spring prior is unhappy with the cubs and thats the reason he won't accept an extension . he's as good as gone after 2008 . considering he won't be able to pitch until july or after why pay him 3 to 4 million . as long as we aren't releasing him for nothing , then at least we have something to show for the pain and suffering for his whining last spring .even if it's a nobody in double a at least the cubs can use the money else where .

I concur. Rolen is not the solution - especially at his contract cost and prospects that the Cards are looking for.

Unless the deal is for one of our extra outfielders and the Birds pick up a large chunk of the contract this shouldn't even be considered.

Rolen would be a travesty. The Angels would be foolish to consider bringing him aboard.

Seriously, say it isn't so.
