« Braves Sign Jorge Julio | Main | Odds and Ends: Bradley, Floyd, Threets »
5:09pm: Loaiza will remain with the Sox for now, but he's headed to the DL.
8:45am: According to MLB.com's Scott Merkin, the White Sox will release Esteban Loaiza prior to today's game.
It was a short-lived experiment; only three innings. The Sun-Times may have the reasoning behind it in today's article. Joe Cowley says Loaiza hadn't been working out or throwing before the Sox signed him, which may be one of the reasons he can barely crack 80 mph.

Who will be the next team to sign Loaiza under the philosophy that because he was good once, he will be good until the day he dies?

Hell, if barely cracking 80mph is a job requirement, I'm game for the league minimum! Sign me up.

Loaiza was really bad for LA, it was frustrating that they wasted more money on him. Everytime he took the mound, he only recorded outs by luck. It's really irritating to follow comments on here and listen people say things like, "he's a proven major leaguer." Well you know what? Nobody is a proven major leaguer until a team allows them to pitch in the majors. You let more young guys pitch, and they will be proven major leaguers. You don't waste time with retread veterans who lost their ability to pitch 3 years ago.
