Here's the latest from Larry LaRue of the Tacoma News Tribune.
- The Braves are mentioning Jeff Francoeur "in trade talks with anyone who will listen." Royals GM Dayton Moore is known to be a fan. Looking at 2008's bottom ten in OBP...Moore signed Jose Guillen (.300), acquired Mike Jacobs (.299), and has been linked in trade talks to Francoeur (.294) and Yuniesky Betancourt (.300). And don't forget Willy Taveras (.308).
- LaRue says the Angels are hinting they can afford both Mark Teixeira and C.C. Sabathia. The Yankees could afford it, too.
- He says the A's are eyeing Jason Giambi. Oakland recently hired Giambi's strength coach. Billy Beane scoffed at the idea that he hired the strength coach to lure Giambi, but no one was really suggesting that. Susan Slusser believes Giambi seeks a three-year deal, which would put him out of the A's range.
I will be so upset if the Braves trade the hometown hero.

Is Dayton Moore actively trying to look like a dinosaur GM?

I hate to see the braves give up on Francour so fast after just the one bad year. I still say that two out of three aint that bad

Wren - PLEASE DO NOT TRADE FRENCHY!!!
He's got a cannon for an arm, he's good on the base paths (providing he doest actually get on base) and last year was a fluke, he's a better hitter than many people think, the offseason will give him enough time to get his mind & his swing back on track...
And besides, say we trade him, that only creates another hole in the OF for a less experienced player to fall into.
Frenchy's young, cheap, and fully capable of having a bounce back year in '09

I am losing a lot of respect for Dayton Moore.

One bad year? Francoer's career OBP is .312. Even in his 2006 season when he hit 29 homers, his OBP was only .293. That's horrendous. He's a lousy offensive player, like Mike Jacobs.

Despite popular belief, he's a WEAK hitting corner outfielder. Career .434 slugging% is not what you want from your RF.

I'm a Braves fan, and even I think its time for the Braves to move Francoeur, assuming they can get something of value in return. Honestly, I think the kid really needs a change of scenery and probably some time at AAA to try and get things together again offensively. I really wish him the best, but I don't know if its in the his or the Braves' best interest for him to stay in Atlanta.

Since it was stated that Zack Greinke is not avalible in the Francoer trade I say dont do it. Yeah he may not be the greatest but hes ours. Thats good enough for me. If Zack Greinke where made available for Francoer and a few decent guys not need to make a peavy swap and not on the Wren's not touch list I would be jumping for joy.

C.C and Tex to the angels would be unreal. but being an angel fan, i would love to see it. even if they dont get C.C, they have been talking about Peavy possibly, which would be just as good.

As an Angel fan, I would love Teix and CC. Realistically though, I would be surprised if the Angels landed more than one big name this whole off season. I see Tex signing with them and then they use mid range players to fill the rest.
Although it could be afforded, signing two+ upper echelon players is unlikely.
