5:27pm: Miller gets $2MM if he reaches all appearance-based incentives. Strauss says the only team Miller considered while his deal was being redone was the Rays, despite inquiries from other clubs.
2:49pm: Here's the press release from the Cardinals.
2:42pm: According to Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Cardinals signed lefty reliever Trever Miller to a one-year deal. Strauss wrote on Monday that Miller's physical raised concerns related to his 2000 surgery for a torn labrum, which put a hold on a two-year agreement.

decent signing, I like the 1 year deal better than the 2 year that was originally reported.

Well that helps them a little. I really wish they had kept Russ but I guess they are wanting to move on. Now just get another reliever or two (Ohman please!) and a decent middle infield and I'll be happy.

Yeah I was surprised they were giving him two years, but one seems about right. Can't really go wrong with this one, he's a good option from the left side.

Miller said the deal included some incentives, with a total potential value of $2MM if he hits them all.

Deal could reach 2 million in incentives.
Side note: Isn't the correct course of action when you find a torn labrum to say: "Sorry, we can't sign you," rather than "Whoa! Slice a year off that deal."

The for the St. Louis reclamation projects!

"The for the St. Louis reclamation projects!"
FYI: Miller was very effective against lefties this year. And, 2MM is NOT much of a risk for a team with the Cardinals' payroll.

Mozeliak, however, indicated that the team's priorities may shift with Miller now in the fold. Some negotiations, such as a reported offer to Rhodes, may quiet down as St. Louis turns to other needs. The Cardinals are seeking two starting middle infielders and perhaps a starting pitcher.
