If he is healthy, Cordero could be a really good value signing for a bargain bulpen.

Come on Chad be a Dodger. And if you learn to wear your hat the right way, we might even let you close.

aj7380,
I couldn't disagree with you more. The "flatlid" is money...

seriously this guy when healthy would be a great pick up for any bullpen...if only the nats had taken the bait a few years ago the return would've been huge. I like him in a setup role in the Bronx...anyone else have any ideas?

Wonder if the Braves will get in on this. they could use someone else to setup gonzalez/soriano.
Somethin like
Soriano CL
Gonzalez SU
Cordero SU
Moylan RHP
Ohman LHP
at least that way we wont have to depend on arms like Bennett, Boyer, and Acosta

Finally!!
The Tigers involved in talks to a reliever!!

I could definitely see the Indians giving him a look. They have good history with guys coming off injuries (Millwood and Howry) Pavano just signed there as well. The Indians medical staff won awards the past couple years and it seems as though that attracts these type of players coming back from injury.

i wouldn't be surprised if the Sox dont at least take a look. good move for the cards if he pans out i think he would fit well in ST Louise.

alright Dambrowski, lets try not to screw this up...I dont want to have to watch Fernando Rodney try to close out a game again in this lifetime...

I don't put too much stock into the whole "reunion with Omar" crap. Personally, I would love to see him as a Met, but it won't be because of Omar.

LOL, the cheap McCourts should have someone look at him. So Cal kid? Most likely will get a incentive based deal? Has Dodgers written all over it

Tigers. Sign him. Rodney SUCKS!

Detroit would be ideal for Cordero - their closer's role is open and the big park would help quell his tendency to give up the long ball. God knows they need him.

Why isn't Tampa Bay looking at Chad Cordero? Troy Percival is done. Percy is old and overweight; you can't count on him being healthy. Chad Cordero is 26 and still has years left. He will fit in the closers role in Tampa. Rays will regret for not giving him a chance b/c the closer by committee will not work.

Josh Byrnes is doing a live chat Q&A in case anyone wants to ask him direct questions about the D Backs

"The Cardinals were one of the teams watching Cordero, but their interest could be better classified as curiosity rather than rapt intrigue. Cordero, returning from a shoulder injury, hopes to begin throwing off a mound in February."

Pretty dynamic bench for the Sox.

"Why isn't Tampa Bay looking at Chad Cordero? Troy Percival is done."
Was thinking the same thing when came here to post.. Cordero is a perfect guy to challenge grant balfour for the 8th inning setup role and also close if/WHEN Percival goes down again with another injury.
I don't think Percival is finished by any means, he still has a good arm and anybody whom has gone from a 95+mph tosser, to a junk balling pitcher and learn to pitch as effectively as he has is not just going to fold all of a sudden. It's going to take a serious injury to finish him off, this guy is *close* to a trevor Hoffman clone at this stage of his career and really, really knows not only how to pitch within his means, but what each batter's weaknesses are and exploit them, kind of like Frank Tananna did in the late 70's after he blew his arm out and lost 10mph off of his heater.. He has the head on his shoulders to prove that guile wins, look also at Schilling and Moose as examples of this rare craft.

After signing Burrell, Tampa doesn't have the financial means to take a risk on Cordero.
They will be competing with many teams and he will command more than Tampa can dish out. (especially on a pitcher coming off the DL)

I watched him pitch in college (Go Titans!). I actually know his sister from a couple classes we took together. She said to me at the time that he was in love with the Angels and if he ever had the chance to play for them (all things being equal), he would. I expect him to go to LAA if they show interest.
