Braves Acquire John Halama

According to a press release, the Braves have purchased lefthander John Halama from the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the independent Atlantic League. Halama pitched to a 2.05 ERA in 66 IP while working as a starter, and was named the league's pitcher of the month in both April and May. He last pitched in the big leagues in 2006, allowing 51 baserunners in just 29.1 IP for the Orioles.

Yes! And just when I thought my Braves were done wheelin' & dealin'! Screw 2010, we're winning the world series THIS year.

Is there any way this deal could happen. Javier, frenchy for nelson cruz. The rangers need pitching and cruz could be a cheap power bat with speed.

I doubt the Rangers could take on that much salary unless they send another contract back. Plus with Hamilton out im not sure if theyre willing to give up Cruz. They have a deep system to deal from if they choose aquire an arm. Plus Ben Sheets is an option in the next couple of months.

Cool, not too much of a gamble. Good move; I like it.

I always thought he was a decent No.5/Long RP guy but at his age now he's gotta have a BP fastball.

Here's to hoping Jurrjens, Vazquez, Lowe, Hanson, and Kawakami all stay healthy. Even beyond that, here's to hoping Medlen stays healthy & Hudson returns as projected. I DO NOT want to see this man pitching games for us down the stretch.

A name I never though I would hear again.

Same. Glad he's not in a Red Sox uni this time around.
