| Glavine Considering Grievance »

A couple of links on a sluggish Saturday afternoon in the baseball world...
- MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince has an update on Carl Pavano's contract: "Pavano, at his current rate, is projected to go 17-11 with a 4.63 ERA
in 205 innings over 34 starts this season. If that were to happen,
Pavano would make an additional $3.5 million in performance incentives,
on top of the $1.5 million he is guaranteed this season."
- Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel breaks down some possibilities for the Brewers' first pick. Baseball America has Milwaukee selecting Notre Dame center fielder A.J. Pollock 26th overall. The Brewers boast five of the first 74 picks.
- Can't get enough draft coverage? John Sickels over at SB Nation's Minor League Ball hosted a first round mock draft this afternoon.
- Dodger Stadium and the surrounding area received it's own ZIP code today, 90090, in a ceremony behind home plate. The territory is already officially listed as "Dodgertown, California."
- Missouri right-hander Kyle Gibson, Baseball America's 4th ranked draft prospect, suffered a stress fracture in his throwing arm on May 30. He'll be out six weeks.
Since Pavano's disastrous first outing (1 IP, 9 ER), he's went 6-3 in 11 starts with an ERA of 3.55 and had 12BB and 55K's. I wonder what kind of contract he'll get in the offseason if he keeps this up.

Yep. Considering his past it'll be very, very interesting.

I'm seeing 4/34 from either the Mets, Royals, Brewers, or D'Backs if he can keep this up.

I know my fantasy ball strategy to stream every pitcher he starts against isn't working so great anymore.

I hope you're right, bravoboy. I'd love to see the Mets waste 8.5 million a year.

I hate Pavano. He ripped the Yankees off big time - hoep he gets shelled from here on out.

I hope your midding bravo boy

Pavano ripped the Yankees off less than J Wright did. The difference is Pavano tried, believe it or not, at least compared to Wright.
It was obvious to just about everyone the Yankees were morons spending so much on Pavano and Wright, dumb idiots.

Like I said, I hope Pavano gets shelled. Pavano said he also got no support in the clubhouse and whined publicly about the 4 years..
He is a wimp that cant play for big city clubs thats how it comes across

Poor "wittle" Yankees. Big, mean old Pavano took some of your money. Talk about whiners.

You gotta love C. Piddy

I would guess that Dodger stadium is one of the first to have its own area code.
Meanwhile, I just wanna say... Andre Ethier is back, and the dodgers are for real. We have guaranteed a winning record against the Phils this yr. All people who are still saying the dodgers are lucky to play in the West, we have taken 4 of 6 from the Phils

Couldn't agree more. Terrible mistake the Yankees made, even though it didn't hurt them that bad, considering the amount that they spend on your payroll...
I could see, if Pavano puts in 200 IP with the numbers he has now...1/5 or 2/8, both with an option and/or incentives. I don't think people trust his history too much to put in more years/money after that.

I agree when speaking about Wright, that was a terrible deal and everyone thought so at the time. As for Pavano thats complete revisionist history a bunch of clubs were making offers to this guy and he was the big free agent pitcher of that offseason. No one thought he would be a waste at the time.

Pavano was a FA fight am glad the Yankees won over the Sox CosaOneNYC. Remember it was his Dad think it was that swayed him to NY.
Would be interesting if he does succeed in reinventing himself as a sort of junk balling guy now, have watched several of his games this year and he only hits 89-90mph with his FB, not even close the the 93-94mph range he used to hit when he was with the Fish.

As far as im concerned you cant give this assmore than a 1 year incentive deal. He'll never get a multi year contract. If he does hell get a butox injury. And when is 48 million not a big deal. They expected him to be productive pitcher and did nothing. That money could have been invested better.

"He'll never get a multi year contract."
I 100% agree yankfan1. He is the Jack Clark of the Red Sox for Albatross LT FA contracts.

So now is it the "Dodgertown Dodgers of Los Angeles" or just the "Dodgertown Dodgers"?
Posted by: A | June 07, 2009 at 12:00 PM
Actually its the LAKERSDODGERSYANKEES4LIFE of DODGERTOWN DELUSIONISTS 90210!
Posted by: RED SOX DYNASTY! | June 08, 2009 at 08:00 AM
The Dodgers should sign Pavano to replace Jason Schmidts production when he's gone. So that would be 3/45 for nothing!
Posted by: RED SOX DYNASTY! | June 08, 2009 at 08:03 AM
There are two things people should never do in NY, ever again.
A) Carry a concealed hand gun.
B) Sign Pavano to a mlb contract, or at least not one greater than 1 year.
I hate this guy...not because he sucked but because he didn't have the guts to pitch thru some non-arm related injuries. Amazing how he's managed to stay healthy enought to be in consideration for a bigger deal.
