According to the Associated Press, via ESPN.com, the Nationals have designated right-handed reliever Jesus Colome for assignment.
Colome, 31, had an 8.40 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 12/6 K/BB ratio in 15 innings of relief for the Nats this season. He allowed 29 total baserunners during his short time in Washington and will either be traded, released or outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse within the next 10 days. We're thinking he probably won't draw much interest on the trading block.

Musical chairs in the Nationals BP all season long. One has to wonder how nice Manny Delcarmen would look sitting in the closer spot, that is if the Nat's FO was not so insistent of only dealing 90 rental Nick "Glassman" Johnson.
Makes you wonder. Ryan Zimmerman is the "face" of the Nationals, yet they also need pitching badly, even with Strasburg drafted. Would they take 2 of Bowden/Delcarmen/Masterson in exchange for him, on top of, say Felix Doubront, another of the Sox AA pitchers that has a chance?

johns - no. The Nationals have no other third basemen. They have no third base prospects. The only players in the system who can step in at third base are Willie Harris, the 4th outfielder, and Kory Casto, who has a major league career BA of about .190.

"The Nationals have no other third basemen. They have no third base prospects."
Did not think of that. Sox have that problem in the upper minors also. Pitching is where the Sox are loaded and where any trade will pretty much have to be from imagine. Shame, Zimmerman would be perfect :-)

I would think the Nationals would need more than two of the players you mentioned, not to mention a decent IF prospect to replace Zimmerman.
