Sabean Rules Out A Run At Halladay

Don't expect the Giants to add Roy Halladay to their rotation. GM Brian Sabean "flatly ruled out" a run at the Jays' ace, according to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News. The Giants have Madison Bumgarner, Buster Posey and Tim Alderson, but Sabean wants to keep his trio of top prospects.

"We don't want to deplete our assets when there's another route we need to go," Sabean said.

Instead, he expects Ryan Sadowski and Jonathan Sanchez to perform at a high level while Randy Johnson's on the DL. The Giants hope to add a bat, and Sabean says he has a 50-50 shot at making a deal.

Oddly enough, Halladay is scheduled to be in San Francisco on July 31st since the Jays are playing across the bay against the A's over the weekend. As many have noted, the Phils, who remain leading candidates to add Halladay, are staying in the same hotel as the Jays because they're playing the Giants.
