Yankees Sign Wilmer Romero

The Yankees signed July 2nd prospect Wilmer Romero out of the Dominican Republic, tweets SI's Melissa Segura.  Romero, a 16-year-old center fielder, was ranked fifth among Dominican prospects on the list Blake Bentley compiled for MLBTR back in May.  Bentley wrote that Romero has the toolset to demand seven figures – the 6'2" center fielder has good speed, a strong arm, and plus power.  ESPN's Keith Law also praised Romero's tools and noted that he signed later because he had to go through MLB's age verification process.

Well it says that he was delayed because he had to go thru mlb’s age verfication process so whatever age he is listed by mlb or the Yanks I would feel safe assuming it to be true. Yanks need to draft/sign as many high end position players as possible because we are very “pitcher” heavy.

Why don’t the Yankees just trade one of their outfielders for a couple of position prospects. They could probably net a couple of decent position players.

only if it’s a shortstop with a very high ceiling

      • I’m not trying to buy every player or anything, but Hanley Ramirez once he gets on the market(he will… the marlins never keep any of their stars for a long time)i think they should make a run at him… Pipe dream though.
