« D'Backs Sign Max Scherzer | Main | Jeff Passan's Most Overpaid Team »
It doesn't get much more minor than this, but the A's have made yet another move to bolster their outfield depth, grabbing Dee Brown from the D-Backs for cash. I guess when you have a ton of minor league outfielders on the major league roster, you have to find somebody to man the position in Sacramento.
What strikes me as odd, though, is that a few weeks ago the A's sent Charles Thomas to Milwaukee for catcher J.D. Closser. Oakland did need the catching insurance, but in a depth-for-depth swap, you'd think that Billy Beane could convince Doug Melvin to take someone other than Thomas in exchange.

If you want to post something REALLY interesting, you should do an analysis on this guy:
Kosuke Fukudome
He is going to be the talk of the offseason.

Dee Brown from U of I?

No...I think it was the one that used to play in the NBA that was really short but could really throw it down

Didn't he win the slam dunk contest when he was with the celtics?

Think so. Apparently he is quite the athlete

Charles Thomas was given his shot with the A's and couldn't even hit AAA pitching, he was never going to see the major league roster again. Beane showed early on this year he'd rather use minor league options on eventual prospects(Putnam) then call Charles up.

I'm actually pretty surprised that anyone took him, I was sure he was one injury/new call up away from being designated.

I played against this version of Dee Brown in H.S. and he was far and away the best baseball player / athlete I've ever played against. Sucks that he was never able to grasp the nuances of the game (such as getting on base (because he definitely isn't a base clogger)) because the raw tools were certainly there.
