« Brewers Inquire On Wood | Main | Baseball Blogs Weigh In »
Sometimes there can be a rift between bloggers and members of the traditional media. However, there's really no reason to compare because blogs and newspapers aren't really competing formats. Journalists hunt down the stories and try to present them objectively, while bloggers analyze, aggregate, and provide opinions.
MLB Trade Rumors would be nothing without journalists; they're the ones actually digging up the rumors. With that in mind, I'm starting a new feature called Rumor Royalty. I will choose the one journalist for each team who I feel has done the most for us hot stove junkies. Then I'll contact each person with three rumor-related questions for publication on the site, if they're willing. Sound good?

sounds great! nick carfado from the globe always gives good input...it'll be interesting to see what he says

Sounds like a good idea. Go with Dejan Kovacevic of the Post-Gazette for the Pirates (though he's on vacation till the winter meetings, the lucky dog).
Another to avoid would be Tony Jackson of the LA Daily News for the Dodgers.

If you can get them to agree, that would be great - I'd love to read their more "inside" perspective.
I agree with revigik, Cafardo has always seemed reliable, and he's willing to take blogger's comments with a grain of salt - case in point, this short online chat he did:
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/11/20/nick_cafardo_red_sox_chat_transcript/
(BTW he mentions that Mike Timlin's already been offered a 1-year deal by the Red Sox)

Actually Cafardo was the guy I naturally targeted for the Sox.

Jeff Blair would be an obvious and good choice for the Jays. He often answers my emails and is very personable. You'll likely get a good response from him.
I'd avoid Richard Griffin as he knows his stuff, but is often slanderous and biased. I know Jays fans won't like his insight.
As for Marty York, well.. you saw the Clemens and Pettitte article. He is a joke.

Great idea.

For the Braves, I would definitely go with Dave O'Brien from ajc.com.

Doesn't sound so great, sorry.

I think this needs not to be sai due to the fact this site tries to remain true to its readers, but no Carrie Muscatt. She is an absolute joke and you may as well as email Craine Kenny directly. We don't need a baseball ignorant writer that is just another spokesperson for the beloved.

Let's try not to trash writers here folks.

Bradford over Cafardo.
