Inge is great defensively, I would consider getting him if I was in need of a third basemen and I could get the Tigers to eat a bit of dough.

So who plays third for the Marlins now?
Posted by: Reywtf | December 04, 2007 at 09:08 PM
I was just thinking... you know what makes too much sense? Reopen discussions sending Paul Konerko to the Angels. The White Sox can't compete for years and the Angels obviously have the prospects for the trade. WHat about Adenhart and Kotchman?

Aramis Ramirez for Chone Figgins? Is Reagins out of his mind? Okay there is a deal where he definately would be smokin some rocks. How about the Cubs add Zambrano and Soriano and we'll take Maicer Izturis and Juan Rivera?
Figgins is a very good player, he's fast, produces a good OBP, and is incredibly versatile. He's worth some decent stuff, but not a legit middle of the order guy like A-Ram

I like the Kotchman and Adenhart for Konerko idea. If the White Sox could get the Angels to bite on that, what would be stopping them? Do they honestly think they can beat the Tigers or Indians?

Konerko to the Angels would make a lot of sense all around. Depends on a few things- Reagins' willingness to give something in return, Williams' willingness to trade Konerko(shouldn't be a problem if the first part worked out) and Konerko's willingness to go to Anaheim, which would be better than you might think.

scribblestone,
i doubt he meant ramirez for figgins straight up.
it would be figgins plus wood, santana and probably willits to start.
that's my guess anyway

A-Ram just added gold glove calibur defense to his skills...and he is good for 30 100 with a .365 OBP pretty much every year. Are they crazy? He is top 5 3rd basemen in baseball...you are right, he is smokin a few things...

as an angel fan i would hesitate to do adenhart+koth for konerko i would maybe do santanna+kotch but i would rather not trade adenhart for konerko.

Santana is not much right now. That probably wouldn't do it.
Posted by: gogopalehose | December 04, 2007 at 09:17 PM
First off, Konerko is the face of the White Sox franchise, along with Buehrle, and Santana-Kotchman wouldn't be enough. Adenhart-Kotchman would do it IMO though.
"i doubt he meant ramirez for figgins straight up."
Seems shocking, I know, but I was on ESPN before I even stopped by this site, and it most definately says A-Ram straight up for Figgins: "some people in the organization want to see GM Jim Hendry pursue a trade for the Angels' Chone Figgins, a switch-hitter. But the Cubs probably don't have what it takes to land Figgins. The Angels value Figgins so highly, one person with ties to the Los Angeles organization said the team might ask the Cubs for third baseman Aramis Ramirez in return." Its a pretty preposturous notion though. Reagans must be gettin hooked up with some pretty decent crack..

i can only imagine the logic behind pursuing 2 lefty OF would be a situation which involves fukodome taking over center and another, which is why jenkins makes sense, platooning in right with murton. This possibility give hendry some room to work with in trying to find a taker for pie and possibly acquire a pitcher

i would love to see the angels put together a package much like the ones they put up for cabrera ...ramirez for adenhart , figgins , and willits . thats reaching for the sky but at least the angels wouldn't have to give more than three players and none of them include your catcher .

The Angels could afford to move Jeff Mathis though. Not only did they have Mike Napoli as his replacement, but Hank Conger could end up being a star in a couple years

i never realized the angels were so good at growing their own talent until this off season. maybe they could teach the cubs a few things about drafting , scouting , and bringing up the young guys . what ever happened to dallas mcpherson ? i thought a few years ago he was going to be a major contributor ?
Posted by: wj | December 04, 2007 at 09:51 PM
Well if the Giants truely are interested in Glaus, this could be a nice replacement option for the Jays. Not to mention it would fix the weakest part of the jays infield Defense which is already amazing. I like Inge he wouldn't make of the offense that Glaus would but he should be a reasonably cheap replacement.

scibblestone,
i apologize. i read the article after i posted that. i think he was speculating... i hope the angels aren't that insane! lol

when you see ramirez walk to first on fly balls , when you see doubles turn into singles , and when he will be on the dl 25% of the season you would be irked as well . then when he hits for a goose egg in the playoffs you'll be thinking ,"we are paying this guy 14 million for this ?"
Posted by: wj | December 04, 2007 at 10:46 PM
14 million could go a long ways to rebuilding a bullpen , signing a legit closer , or making up a huge chunk of the salary of an ace .

I like Inge to the Giants for his defense, but is he reall all the much better then Pedro Feliz on offense?
