Tigers Getting Cabrera, White Sox After Andruw?

Getting Cabrera sounds exciting, but is anybody going to be left behind to pitch if all four of those guys go? I think it has to be only two of the three pitchers.

I really ddi not see this happening, and I also did not expect the White Sox to have enough to offer for him. Maybe Cabrera' relationship with Ozzie Guillien got this done more than most expected, even so, I agree, fantastic move by williams.

Also, did not expect the marlins to take on three pitchers in this deal, i figured they would want another position player as well, so if this were to happen, i would have expected ryan sweeney to have been involved, but u never know.

i would probably sh* my pants if this is true. White Sox are STARVED for a young superstar. I could definitely part with Gio, Fields, and Danks/Floyd.

The White Sox will only keep him for a year and half before they trade him because he'll be unrestricted and they won't meet his long term demands.

As for dealing Danks or Floyd, and Geo Gonzalez, if you can have two of those three plus Fields to get Cabrera's bat, the Marlins are insane. Danks looks like a possible number 3 starter down the road, but Floyd looks like a middle reliever at best, and Gonzalez has been hyped to death but traded 87 times and never pitched in the majors. If I were the Marlins I'd insist on better pitching prospects than those.

Okay, someone has no clue what they're talking about. Not sure who it is, unfortunately.

Two things if this is true:

1) The Marlins have f'd up by taking the deal, because the package the White Sox are offering doesn't match up with even the low-ball offers from the Angels and Dodgers. They'd be better off turning around and taking the lesser deals from those two teams that they snubbed earlier.

2) The White Sox f'd up if they take this deal, because their rotation is awful. The only thing that is/was going to keep them in contention is their young prospects like Gio. Assuming Gio, Danks, or Floyd head off, the White Sox have absolutely nothing in the rotation to keep them in contention. They'll be annihilated for years.

For the record, I am the first to trademark/claim the term "Cabrera Corner"...You are all witnesses to this.

As a Twins fan, this is a bit of a pucker moment.

I find the idea that Gavin Floyd has genuine value in the trade market very disturbing.

Would that White Sox offer really be better than even a Kendrick, Adenhart, Mathis, mid-level prospect? Either the Marlins are blowing smoke to up the price on the Angels, or they really messed up and drove them away from the bargaining table. Either way, if this is true, poor play by Florida.

Detroit's package is pretty good, and a little foolish in my opinion.

Peter Gammons just confirmed the Detroit rumor on ESPN from the Winter Meetings. He says he expects it to get done tonight.

Gammons on Sports Center just backed up Willis AND Cabrera to the Tigers.

Porcello is ineligible to be traded so no, I'm guessing it will be some smaller players.

Jesus Christ though. I never took Dombrowski to be the monster deal type, Kenny I would expect but not with the way they have labeled their prospects

This is classic Kenny Williams. He has been "playing" his fans for years. He always leaks that he is going after the "big fish". Examples, Nomar a few years ago. Soriano at the trade deadline in 2006. Tori Hunter this year. Then when it doesn't happen the White Sox fans are fooled into believing he's trying to get one of the elite players. And the Marlins are happy to play along, because he drives up the price for them. Detroit's and the Angels players are better. Sorry, Sox fans, he's playing you.

now that you mention it, you're right. hes been teasing us sox fans for years, and never once has he made a HUGE splash. sure he got jim thome, but thats because philly HAD to get rid of him with the emergence of howard.

I gotta say...the Marlins would have gotten more from two separate trades for the guys. Two elites and some high level prospects for Miggy, and One elite and one or two decent prospects for Dontrelle. I doubt there are three ELITE prospects in this Tigers deal.

sox should look to unload all of there vets now, theres no chance to compete in that division with cleveland and detroit. deal konerko to the angels since they still need a bat and deal the rest of the old guys for whatever you can get. this is depressing....

Why would the Angels want Konerko and his huge contract for a position where they already have a young up-and-comer at first base, with big upside? Kotchman is already living up to his billing, and and is dirt cheap.

He'll be 31 by the beginning of the season and he had the bad year batting .222 with the Braves, but I don't know, Konerko had that bad year batting .192 and came back and did great the next what 4 years or 5

I think the White Sox have a legit chance at signing Jones, there was a rumor going that said they will make the same 5 year 75 Million dollar offer that they did to Hunter. And so far it seems like everyone wants to just sign Jones to a 1 year deal, so I could see it happening.

right now, i hope kenny some how gives away crede, thome for a couple of nice hats, moves dye to the DH, signs a guy who can move in RF then lets the rest of the terrible youth we have fight over left and center and just hope for 2010

I think the White Sox should just blow it all up and try to rebuild Marlins-style. This team has too many old guys and not enough good prospects to make the deals to improve this team. They have some guys that could have some pretty good trade value, guys like Konerko, Thome, Dye, Vazquez, etc. This team won't win soon, not in that division
