« Padres Acquire Jim Edmonds | Main | Dodgers Sign Kuroda »
MLB.com's Steve Gilbert talked to free agent first baseman Tony Clark recently, learning that the Diamondbacks have pulled their two-year offer to him off the table in light of their recent moves.
The acquisition of Chris Burke eliminated the bench spot that might've gone to Clark. While a few teams mentioned the idea of a full-time role, Clark hasn't received other concrete offers.
The Rangers have acquired Ben Broussard, so they're probably out on Clark. The Rays will get their leadership from Cliff Floyd. The Twins probably don't have room for Clark anymore. The Dodgers may still have their eye on him, but beyond that his opportunities are shrinking fast.

Similar to Clark, does anybody have any idea where there may be a market for Scott Hatteberg? I don't know if it was on here or not, but I saw a suggestion a while back about platooning him with Sosa as a DH somewhere...

Clark should take another tour with the Yankees. Great guy to have off the bench.

They'd have to move Thorman first, but Clark would be a fairly good fit in Atlanta as the primary bat off the bench. Now that Infante is there, they don't necessarily need another backup MI, and Clark can do some 3B in a pinch. If he'll sign for around $2M or something, I wouldn't be shocked to see it happen.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in KC.

I was pondering with the idea of the Nationals sending Meat Hook to Arizona for some middle teired, almost ready pitching prospects. If Johnson is healthy, the Nats already have a logjam in the outfield with Kearns, Milledge, Pena and Dukes, and while I understand they can send either or both Milledge and Dukes down, both are ready for the show and should be given at least 400 at bats. Having Young around will prevent that. I imagine Scherzer might be a lot much, but I wonder if the team might be willing to flip Buckner given the latest on Clark.

For some reason I've always thought that seattle could have gotten alot more out of broussard , his last full yr in cleveland he had 21hr and 63 rbi , and slugged almost .500.( granted with a poor bb/k) but i thought with regular playing time he could be close to say adam laroche, with 25 and 90 every yr. I hope he plays in texas just so i can test my theory.

An aged slugger, 1B from the NL looking for a job?
This says Giants all over it. They'll sign him to a 4 year contract, give him their 1B job and then celebrate the youth movement.

A return to the Yankees might not be out of the question, I guess...for 1-year, not bad

Papelbomb - Broussards last season in Cleveland was as a platoon player. His salary and part time role at best definitely diminished his value.

Yeah the Giants will be all over Clark. Probably a two year deal.
