| A's Talking Extension With Street »
By Tim Dierkes [March 13, 2008 at 10:41am CST]
It's fair to say that most teams like to acquire healthy players rather than injured ones. That's definitely the case with Red Sox center fielder Coco Crisp, who is trying to come back from groin problems. Nick Cafardo reiterates the Cubs' interest, but the Cubs need to see him play first. Crisp also dealt with a root canal this spring. On a related note I am having some wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning, so forgive me if I'm a bit off.
Crisp has only played in two games this spring, and it's possible he's left off the Japan trip to start Boston's season. While it's nice to have things shored up before Opening Day, there's no reason not to extend this thing into April. For what it's worth, Tony Massarotti talked to a scout who suggested the Reds, White Sox, Pirates, and Rangers might be looking for a center fielder.
I had a wisdom tooth taken out a few months ago, the pain was at a minimum, as long as the dentist prescribes a pain reliever. Changing out the gause to stop the bleeding is the worst part.

I had wisdom teeth pulled when I was in highschool. I missed a day because the appointment was in the middle of the day, but I was back at school the next day. I didn't even use any of the painkillers I was prescribed.
From everything I've heard though, my case was unusual.

Just make sure when you get them out, they get all four in one trip so you don't have to go through the ordeal again.

I had all four of my widsom teeth pulled when I was 18 or so, and 2-3 hours after I got home from my procedure, I got into a fist fight with my brother and all of my stitches were ripped out.
In spite of all of this, in agreement with Stellar, I was one of the lucky ones. I had a full meal at McDonalds the next day.

I ad all four impacted out at once. As soon as I got home I projectile vomited blood all over the bathroom. My Dad said "Redroom, Redroom. Over there. Over there."

Good luck with getting your wisdom teeth taken out... I will pay extra-close attention to the site tomorrow because I am looking forward to some loopy posting due to pain-relief medication.
I can see the headlines now:
-"Brewers Acquire Captain Crunch in 3 Team Swap-a-roo"
- "Matt Stairs out indefinitely with missing thumbs"
- "David Wells signs two-year deal"
- "MLBTR's Man of the Year: Scott Boras"
.....

On an unrelated note, I wouldn't mind seeing a crisp/pie platoon in CF.

Well, Tim, I can honestly say that I am going to be feeling your pain, because I actually get all four of my wisdom teeth taken out in about 4 hours and am not looking forward to it at all. Wish ya the best of luck.

Bronx, we're hoping some Saudi Arabian sheik buys the Cubs and has a $400 million payroll. Then they can acquire every good player.

Tim,
Make sure you stay awake for the procedure. If you sleep someone has to hold your head/mouth and it leads to swelling. If you stay awake you will recover much faster. I hope it goes well and none are impacted.

I am against the Cubs getting Crisp unless its a straight trade for Marquis and cash. (Sorry Sawks fans but that is just my way of saying it aint gonna happen)
I can see the headline though.
"Coco Pie new flavor of Wrigley"

I really don't get why Crisp has not already been sent to Oakland or Minnesota.
They both have young CF prospects who are clearly not ready, and if Boston offers to pick up a little salary, Crisp would be a very cost effective solution for the next few years.

Agreed Slacker...

i got my wisdom teeth taken blah blah blah blah. this is baseball post, not dental war stories. jesus half the posts are about the teeth. i hope the cubs get crisp. it would make no sense since they have pie and crisp is only slightly better. crisp is also much more expensive and as for pie he could end up being better than crisp by the end of the year. since i am joelcards, i certainly hope they get him. i hope they trade a few more young guys for him. the future in chicago isnt looking good. they better hope they win this year. if they win the series i eat my words but seriously what are the odds of that? i think they are similar to winning powerball or megamillions for you illinois guys.

The Cubs need to focus on getting Pie regular playing time. After all, wasn't that the biggest complaint last season? You can't expect a young kid to get two ABs every fourth day and contribute the kind of numbers you're expecting. Let the kid play and quit trying to make a move just to make a move.
