"Or, how 'bout signing Bob Wickman? Is he officially retired?"
He officially sucks.

I would love nothing more than for the Phillies to sign Wickman. Maybe they will go ahead and pick up Kolb, Reitsma, and HoRam while they're at it.

If the purpose of the Roberts threads was, as alleged by a Chicago enthusiast, to corral Cubs fans in one place, your decision to post three Roberts mentions in seven news items has surely let the Cubs fans run amok.

“Middle relief” help… “Bob Wickman”… Not seeing that one man…
Wickman can close. Sure, you better have a bottle of Mylanta ~ but Wickman can close… What Wickman cant do, is pitch in the 6th-8th innings.

The addition of Horacio Ramirez to the collection of "talent" available must make the bargain bin that much more crowded ("Hey, move over Weaver, you got your elbow in my ribs!")

That is a good idea, corralling the Cubs fans. I will have to try that.

I'd love them to sign Wickman, so the Braves can get back a few of those blown saves.

too many topics. hard to focus. rosenthal is awesome. anyways ill run with the reds pitching. i really think the reds are on the right track. sure losing hamilton will hurt but they have some of the best young talent in the game. volquez is for real. if he could succeed in texas why not cincy? harang and arroyo r already good and with the young guys i think they r at least headed in the right direction.

i also like the idea of rounding up all the cubs fans. i wont share what happens next but think independance day.

FineHams,
I count Wickman as 38 saves and 5 blown in about 1 years worth of games overall for the Braves. Yet you feel you need to recoup some of the “blown saves”? :\
Wickman in save-chances for the Braves was fine ~ 38 & 5 says as much… Like I said; he might keep you on the edge of your seat, but in the end he ends up doing the job quite well. (people really need to ignore ERA and focus on Saves vs Save-Opps when looking at closers!) Just don’t let Wickman pitch the 6th – 8th innings, thats where the problems will probably come in…

What about a trade with the Cubs for So Taguchi? I would think that the Cubs have plenty of "middle" relief that would be a fair swap for So. Looking at the depth chart So is burried in all the OF positions and #2 in CF. I would think that Werth, could back up Victorino.
