The Dallas Morning News is reporting that the Rangers have designated Sidney Ponson for assignment for "disrespectful and adverse reactions to situations unbecoming of teammates."
Ponson, a non-roster invitee in spring training, was having a solid season for the Rangers with a 4-1 record in 9 starts and a 3.88 ERA. The Rangers have 10 days to trade Ponson.
Cork Gaines writes for Rays Index and can be reached here.

What a horrible person

I find it funny that a team with Milton Bradley cuts someone for "disrespectful and adverse reactions to situations unbecoming of teammates."

You actually have almost to feel sorry for Sir Sidney. His behavior in Baltimore got him the boot, too. Such great potential.

Ponson is to the MLB what Daly is to the PGA - hope he lands somewhere.

who will be the fifth starter for the rangers now? Nolan Ryan will come out of retirement. (the comment on the link was mine by the way)

Rick Porcello for Sidney Ponson? Fair enough I think

what the f***!!!
I hope that was a joke barroid. Top prospect signed for 10 mill for a guy who was just dfa. Tigers need to jump at that.

Anyone who makes comments about how bad a teammate Milton Bradley is needs to follow his team a little better. His teammates here in Texas love MB...no doubts.
Quit bringing up old stories from his past and parading them as something happening today. People do change...if you haven't as you've gotten older then I feel bad for you.

Yeah, the Milton Bradley comment is a bit ridiculous...
What is it, exactly, that Milton has done to be any type of distraction or detriment to his team here in Arlington? MB has been great, everyone in the clubhouse loves him.
He apparently caused a serious disturbance in the team hotel in Tampa Bay last week, and then blew up on Ron Washington this morning when he was told his next start would be pushed back to get Millwood back on his regular 4 days rest between starts... He deserved to get the boot.

He being Ponson in that last paragraph... Some are saying he got drunk at the hotel bar and caused issues with the hotel staff...

Sidney sees "DFA" in front of his name so often he might think it's his legal name.

"Sidney sees "DFA" in front of his name so often he might think it's his legal name."
Funny! Or, it's like a title, like "M.D.", or "PHD". "Welcome to the Offices of Sidney Ponson, DFA"...
Seriously, this is a sad development, because I was just thinking the other day how it seemed like Sidney had finally turned the corner and was starting to show his potential. It's too bad for the Rangers too, because their pitching staff overall was starting to look somewhat decent, for once. Oh, well...

If you guys seriously think 2 months of Milton Bradley behaving makes him a changed man then more power to you. I actually like Milton, have since he was an Expo and loved it when Cleveland got him. But the guy is a serious chip on his shoulder, and has every step of the way. He's been with 6 organizations in his 12 year career. Each one of them he has left on bad terms. And though sometimes he does clash with teammates it's mostly management that runs afoul of his attitude.

When you start to look at some of their rosters the last 5 years or so, you begin to get the impression that being DFAed for personality disorders is probably not the easy task on the Rangers. Grats Sidney, you must be one F*ed up M*erF*er, actually managing to see that boot and all…

...As a Tribe fan, and LA guy I love GameBoy ~ but man he is screwed up. I mean, everything was great in SD last year too until he decided to throw a temper tantrum which cost the clubs its starting LF and CF right before the playoff push. Good going GameBoy, youve managed to take your tantrums to new levels of destruction!
Just wait Ranger Fans! ...Tick, Tick, Tick...

Right on Darkstar.
If you follow Bradley's career he is always "well liked" at the beginning. Then an incident creeps in. Then another. Before you know it there is a full-fledged blow up and the guy is getting moved.
I have yet to hear any of his former teammates lament losing him. He is a total tool and everyone in baseball knows it. He happens to stick around because of his crazy mad skills. I bet if he was a League Average guy he would be in the unemployment line right now. You only tolerate a guy like that if you believe he can perform at a very high level.

…Yeah, look at Oakland. I mean, remember all the A’s fans were saying that GameBoy was great and there were no problems with his attitude and everything ~ then he goes on the DL and the team decides he will never put the uniform on again! Seriously, when 5 teams are more than happy to see a guy go after each claimed there are no problems at one time or another…
… well ~ Tick, Tick, Tick…
