« Mets Offer Humber For Cordero | Main | Olney: Dodgers, A's Still Talking Blanton »
Jayson Stark was just on ESPN talking about the crazy market for relievers. As you know, the Octavio Dotel to Atlanta trade is held up until medical records for all six players involved in the Teixeira deal are reviewed. That's just business as usual.
But Stark's saying that teams are still calling up the Royals trying to beat the offer of Kyle Davies for Dotel. He also mentioned that teams are calling the Braves to try to pry Bob Wickman loose in the event that the Braves do get Dotel. Tim Brown backs this up - Wickman can be had if Dotel is secured.

What is a better question is why you would trade Dotel for Davies rather than taking the Mariners up on Balentien.
Maybe Seattle will sweeten the pot. :)

Would the Braves get Dotel then dump Wickman? Is Dotel an upgrade over Wickman?

well with the price of RP, trading wickman might not be to bad, especially if we get dotel for davies. then turn around and trade wickman somewhere for prospects, id be ok with that

Can u guys see wickman going back to Cleveland?
Posted by: Tofubrain | July 31, 2007 at 01:43 PM
Yankees might cough up a prospect or two for Wickman now...

Dotel is an upgrade...and he is younger. But, I like Wick...would hate to see him go. Would he have veto power?

Id love to see the yanks acquire Wickman
please do it

I heard Wickman back to the Indians to fill their BP needs a couple times, but...
Wicky really had been saying he doesnt really want to play for anyone but ATL or CLE the last couple years (hence the trade from the Tribe to Atl last year)
As far as the Tribe ~ Wickman isnt an upgrade over JoBo, but he's still a serviceable (although firghtning) arm. Big problem, neither really pitches well in non-save gaves...

i hope dotel stays in Kansas City which probably want happen... he says that he loves the city and would take an extension

I don't think Wickman has veto power. Could definitely see him going to the Yanks.

The Royals wouldn't extend Dotel, and you would be sorry with the end result. He's older than the Royals other options at closer, and has proven to be injury prone. We don't need another Mike Sweeney in the bullpen.

maybe trade wickman to Cle for Cliff Lee maybe a new change of scenery for lee would help.
