There is no way they trade Capuano and Hall for Rolen. Rolen is to injury prone. Capuano has a better chance of bouncing back than Rolen does.

Street to the Brewers would be great, and despite what Melvin says sending Weeks to the A's would not be a bad idea. How many years left does Street have? 3?

what about crede and richar for weeks?

With the plethora of outfielders the Brewers have at their disposal, why not simply move Hall back to third base, where he was quite good? This way, Ryan Braun moves to the OF, where he won't be such a butcher defensively, plus that opens up CF for Tony Gwynn, Jr.

His agent says other teams are in play? MLB's website lists Riske as a Brewer. Odd.

Old item on Riske - he's in the fold as a Brewer. Officially announced today here in Milwaukee.
Iguchi for 3B sure sounds like thinly veiled misdirection. If he signs I'd count that as confirmation that Weeks is on the way out - as a hitter he's the second coming of Jim Gantner, and despite the good memories of Gumby here in Milwaukee, that kind of guy is definitely not going to cut it at third base. No power, middling speed, 100-ish k's, .270 average - I just don't get the fascination here.

I would say that the Brewers are targeting Iguchi more as a backup middle infielder instead of a starter at 3B. With Graffanino and Counsell both gone, the Brewers are thin at the infield position, other than super-sub Joe Dillon. Rickie Weeks isn't going anywhere, unless he HAS to be in some sort of a deal that lands the Brewers a stud pitcher. Melvin has gone out of his way this winter to say that Weeks is one of the "untouchable" guys the Brewers have. Obviously that can change if the right deal came along, but it would have to knock the Brewers socks off.
The Brewers will move Braun to LF if they have to, but that spot has a big "RESERVED" sign on it for Matt LaPorta in a couple of years. I doubt they get Braun to a new position, only to have to move him again when LaPorta gets to the bigs.
I would take the news on Huston Street VERY seriously. Melvin isn't the type of GM to ask teams about players and not be serious about it. Other than Capuano and Kevin Mench, the Brewers dont have tons of pieces to play with in the trade game.

Counsell still has one more year on his deal with an option for 2009, JaNelson38.

I just saw an article on the Brewers website that says they are going with their old closer, Turnbow, for 2008, so maybe Street was too expensive?
