Texas finally has a very good pipeline of talent...Sabathia is not going to get them anywhere this year. They just need to wait to the off-season, it would be incredibly short-sighted to go after him before, even at the risk he signs long-term with whoever acquires him.

The problem that Texas would face by waiting till the off-season to pursue Sabathia is the big lefty's preferences. He's from California and I would think that the Dodgers would be suiters. C.C. also like to hit (and is pretty good at it) which would make the NL more to his liking. Money and length of contract, of course, might be the final arbiter but if the money and contract length offers from multiple suiters is comparable I would think that Texas would come out on the short end of the stick if a California and/or an N.L. team are in the running.

Come on, who are we kidding. Nobody is trading for Sabathia without a windown for an extension. There is 0% chance he gets traded AND hits the FA market this summer...

0%?? I definitely disagree.

I don't have an Insider account. Can someone post the trade options for Olney suggested on Tex? Thanks!

i dont want to pull out the Yanks payroll thing again but nyyankz the yanks could trade for CC and give CLE wat they want in prospects and then just go after watever FA they want and be alright..so i 100% disagree with u there nyyankz

I'm confused by NYYankz response. Where was it implied that the rangers would not have a negotiating window if they traded for C.C.? The rangers best chance is to take advantage of such an exclusive window to overwhelm CC. If they wait till the off-season and compete with the other 29 teams I think they have little chance.

The Cubs could easily trade for him and not sign him beforehand, or even at all. With ownership up for grab, they probably don't want any more huge contracts on the table. However, they are probably going to be putting all their chips in for this year, and CC at least gets you draft picks.
In the ELIAS system, what would happen if he moved from the AL to NL for the last quarter of the season? Does he get compared to NL pitchers the last 2 years, or how does that even work??

Sabathia and the Rangers makes a lot of sense. But if they trade for him it means they're all in for signing him. I'm guessing Johan or Peavy's contract sets the standard.

There is nothing worse than the myopia of the Padres. To consider themselves "contenders" or at least "in the hunt" is pathetic.
This team should realize that they have no hope of going anywhere in the playoffs (if god-forbid they make it).
Best thing that can happen to this team is a 10-12 game losing streak, and a Diamondback's resurgence. After that, move Giles, Wolf, Maddux, Barrett, Clark, Iguchi and whomever else you can unload, and get what you can in return.

You know it really is too bad the brewers don't need a 1B. If the Braves could send Tex to the Brewers in a package with some minor league talent for Ryan Braun and Ben Sheets, that would be excellent, and a huge mega blockbuster trade at that. I know it would never happen, especially since they have the Prince, but it's just a thought.

I just looked at ESPN, and apparently the rumor is that Tex could head to Boston. As a Braves fan, that would be excellent. Boston has all the parts that the Braves covet right now. They have a surplus of starters and an outfielder named Crisp, who is in an odd man out situation to a degree and is also hitting well. I would be really interested to see if Wren does some wheeling and dealing with a Boston club that has a lot of good moveable pieces.
