« Hampton Will Consider Astros | Main | Padres Rumors: Bell, Hensley, Giles »
11:06pm: Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi says he's yet to discuss dollars with Burnett's agent.
10:38am: Yesterday, MLBTR reported the Blue Jays are preparing a two year, $30MM contract extension which would have A.J. Burnett making $54MM over the next 4 years. Here's some of the latest:
Mike Rutsey of the Sun Media reports Burnett has also mentioned to Baltimore players that he'd like to play for the Orioles, but that his decision on whether to opt out or not is contingent on the Blue Jays offer. Says Burnett,
"The bottom line is when I sit down at the end of the season and [my agent is] with me and tells me what I'm worth and then we will look at Toronto's offer and hopefully it's close."
Cathal Kelly of the Toronto Star says Burnett was pleasantly surprised by the number being floated by the Jays.
"Nice," he said, nodding his head approvingly. "That's more than I thought they would come up with."

Personally, I dont think 4yrs/54m will be enough to make A.J stay. On the open market, he's probably going to get something like a 5yr/80m deal or more. This was his breakout year and I think that he has more of these types of years in him.

This has actually been his worst statistical season. The only thing he has done well this year is pitch his healthiest season. His W-L record is completely irrelevant.

Is it newsworthy to mention Paul Godfrey stepping down?

Burnett is showing interest in Baltimore???...WHAT?...Why would he want to play for Balitmore....Baltimore will be rebuilding for another 4-5 years....not every team can pull a Devil Rays and win with a mediocore line up...
If Burnett or any other strong starting pitcher signs with the jays than Halladay would want to stay....if the jays don't sign a strong starter or a Burnett than i can guarntee that Halladay would want to opt out....
THey also need to sign a power hitter....perferable in the DH position....Hmmm...it be nice for Delgado to finish his career with the jays....what do you think???

It would be cool to have him back but hes not leaving the Mets I think AJ would get about 60 or 66 mil for 4 years instead of the 56 he woud get in TO
