12:05pm: Baker and Stone learned of a fourth final candidate for the Mariners GM job: Jack Zduriencik of the Brewers.
10:19am: According to Geoff Baker and Larry Stone of the Seattle Times, the Mariners are bringing back Jerry DiPoto, Tony LaCava, and Kim Ng for second interviews for their GM position. Peter Woodfork, Tony Bernazard, and Lee Pelekoudas did not make the cut. Furthermore, Baker believes DiPoto and LaCava have a leg up on Ng.
Tigers assistant GM Al Avila talked to the Tigers about his future before the Ms asked for permission to interview him, and now has an extension through 2011.

Ng in Seattle makes too much sense. I've thought for a couple of years that she would end up there.

I have a feeling that Ng getting this far just may be a move to please the Commissioner's Office, and that she is probably the 4th choice of these 4 final candidates.
Personally, I like both her and LaCava, and am not sure which I would prefer. LaCava seems to have the most experience, having been with 5 different organizations(currently with the Blue Jays as of now).
My guess is that he is currently the frontrunner to get the job.

Tim, I read that Richard Justice line to say that Ng is a rumored candidate for the Seattle job with Gillick as prez, not Philly

You're definitely right about that Justice line.

Anyone else hear Phillips on TV mentioning the M's as a darkhorse to land Manny? I personally don't think anything of it given the organization's plan to not sign big names this off season. What do you guys think?

According to Haudricourt, Brewers Scouting Director Jack Zdurencik was also a finalist.

I can't see the Mariners signing Manny Ramirez. He goes against their "good guy" requirements.

Hey guys. Yanks fan here. I was wondering. The Yanks have a glut of LF/DH types. Do you think the Mariners would have any interest in Hideki Matsui if we picked up a large portion of his contract ( 1 year left @ 12 million)?
With Ibanez a free agent and Vidro sucking they could use some offense. They ranked at the bottom in hrs, rbis and obp. A healthy Matsui is good for 25 hrs, 100 rbis and a .370 obp
Can a combination of any of the 2 work?

Michael Wilson/25 yr old OF
Renny Osuna/23 yr old SS
Mitch Moreland/23 yr old 1B
Engle Beltre/19 yr old CF
