The D'Backs traded Tony Pena to the White Sox yesterday and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports hears they're not done dealing yet. In fact, they've spent much more time trying to deal Doug Davis, Jon Garland and Felipe Lopez than they spent trying to deal Pena. Chad Qualls seems less likely to be dealt now that the D'Backs have already traded one reliever.

Doug Davis makes alot of sense to several teams. The Brewers though have the offense to give a guy like Davis alot of wins.

mets should be ready to deal also, lets face it, they are done
Posted by: johan is GOD | July 08, 2009 at 09:44 AM
yeah but who should be on the block for the mets? seems like everyone who'd command a big return is on the dl except wright.
Posted by: Baseball@Europe | July 08, 2009 at 09:57 AM
The mets should try to package a deal with castillo and some young talent to save some money for free agency and aquire a decent bat.
No all stars should get traded
Maybe reyes for an elite pitcher or bat. We gotta let his legs heal
Do not hurry beltran reyes maine putz and delgado back. I feel this year is over unless this triple a squad can all become beast

Just curious
What would david wright command
Posted by: beastOftheEast | July 08, 2009 at 10:33 AM
what kind of package would the Mets have to put together to get Garland and Lopez. I mean Lopez is hitting .303 and would be an upgrade over Castillo. Garland is a much better pitcher than Redding or Livan and could replace Maine for now if he is not going to be back this year.

A f-n lot. Like, more than what the A's got for Dan Haren.
"what kind of package would the Mets have to put together to get Garland and Lopez. I mean Lopez is hitting .303 and would be an upgrade over Castillo. Garland is a much better pitcher than Redding or Livan and could replace Maine for now if he is not going to be back this year."
Can we freaking stop with the Garland is a decent pitcher. He's not an improvement over Livan Hernandez, and Jon Niese is an improvement over Jon Garland, and he's already in the farm system. I mean, pitchers comparable to Jon Garland get DFAd all the time.
And I don't understand why you would try to upgrade over Luis Castillo when you have much, much more glaring holes elsewhere.
Posted by: melonis rex | July 08, 2009 at 10:51 AM
Castillo has a contract that he has for 2 years after this for 4 per year.
Lopez is an upgrade. Castillo and a b prospect (brant rustich) for lopez can get it done.
They need to get healthy for next year beltran, reyes to be back and sign laroche.
Posted by: beastOftheEast | July 08, 2009 at 11:03 AM
Beast, if you were Josh Byrnes, would you trade for Luis Castillo's contract?
Well put, melonis. I always enjoy reading your posts.

ok, this is what the mets should do:
when he comes back Trade beltran, murphy and eddie kunz to the tigers for curtis granderson, brandon inge and a bad contract like magglio ordonez and nate robertson
Thoughts?
Posted by: johan is GOD | July 08, 2009 at 11:36 AM
then entertain reyes for a young middle of the order bat
Posted by: johan is GOD | July 08, 2009 at 11:37 AM
tigers never do that trade
Posted by: jrMETS | July 08, 2009 at 11:42 AM
why not?
Posted by: johan is GOD | July 08, 2009 at 11:47 AM
I could definitely see Doug Davis getting traded to the brewers but I'm not too sure of how he'd do. He doesn't throw like he did in Milwaukee a few years back but I'd be interested as long as the brewers' starting pitching gets better.
Jon Garland too wouldn't be bad.
Posted by: lion in a coma | July 08, 2009 at 12:05 PM
Beltran is not Barry Bonds of 2001. Thats why they don't make a trade that would pretty much destroy their run production. And Magglio is bound to hit better again.
Posted by: jrMETS | July 08, 2009 at 12:16 PM
What about
Carlos beltran to tiger daniel murphy to tigers and jose reyes to cards
For
Maggilo ordonez to mets curtis granderson mets inge to mets
Nate robertson to the mets
Khalil greene to the mets ryan ludwick to mets. Prospects to tigers
Posted by: beastOftheEast | July 08, 2009 at 12:16 PM
what prospects? Tiger are giving to much in that deal. Remember the tigers are in contention. And the mets are giving up WAY TOO MUCH.
Posted by: jrMETS | July 08, 2009 at 12:30 PM
If beltran is traded a cf and rf or 1b should come along
I think beltran should get traded because he has great value
A cf bats .300 gold glove steals bases and hits 30 40 hrs in a normal ballpark
Posted by: beastOftheEast | July 08, 2009 at 12:41 PM
I think the Red Sox would probably empty the farm for Wright.
Buchholz, Anderson, Reddick Hagadone or sommething like that.
Posted by: Baseball@Europe | July 08, 2009 at 12:42 PM
Beltran and reyes for
Ellsbury jd drew. Julio lugo nick green
And clay buccholz
Which team needs more
Imagine boston with reyes and beltran in their lineup
Posted by: beastOftheEast | July 08, 2009 at 12:44 PM
But Beltran is also paid 18.5/per. wright is paid only 8.5/per which is below marked value. he would command a bigger bounty than beltran
Posted by: Baseball@Europe | July 08, 2009 at 12:46 PM
i think the mets need more
Posted by: Baseball@Europe | July 08, 2009 at 12:49 PM
Would jenrry mejia make it reasonably for boston
Posted by: beastOftheEast | July 08, 2009 at 12:56 PM
"Just curious

Suprised to read a Met fan suggest such a thing. Fair to say plenty. I doubt Omar would entertain that one though.
Posted by: studio179 | July 08, 2009 at 01:06 PM
I wanted to see his worth to other fans
No way he gets traded he's the face of the franchise
But if reyes and beltran go to boston
For such package and maybe micheal bowden and chris carter
Boston should be set for world series appearances
The mets will replace the speed with jacoby and buccholz with johan maine pelfrey and neise or perez should have good rotation
Posted by: beastOftheEast | July 08, 2009 at 01:14 PM
beltran is 32 and not getting any younger and mets want to get younger, with bad knees.but Granderson is 29, yeah not as young as you thought.
Posted by: johan is GOD | July 08, 2009 at 01:29 PM
Jacoby is young clay is young carter is young bowden is young. Lugo is a bad contract and drew to make up for the money
Posted by: beastOftheEast | July 08, 2009 at 01:36 PM
beast are you f**kin high?? your trade proposals are just insane and make no sense at ALL .. get a clue on life
Posted by: chisoxTBrayfan | July 08, 2009 at 01:54 PM
"Can we freaking stop with the Garland is a decent pitcher."
I'm not arguing with you, because I've seen Garland suck many times, but his 2.47 ERA away from Chase is something that might interest other teams. However, there is no chance that the Diamondbacks get anything decent for him.

WE GONNA MIZZ U FELIPE LOPEZ U DID DO GOOD FOR THE DIAMONDBACKS
