Brewers’ GM To Meet With Reyes’ Agents

Brewers general manager Doug Melvin will meet with the agents for Jose Reyes this coming week at the Winter Meetings, according to's Jon Heyman (via Twitter).

Reyes' main suitor this offseason has been the suddenly free-spending Marlins, who have a reported offer of six years and perhaps as much as $90MM on the table to lure Reyes to Miami. Recently, it's been said that Reyes may be down to only the Marlins and the Mets, but he figures to be a popular topic of discussion throughout the Winter Meetings.

Reyes captured his first batting title in his age-28 season by hitting .337/.384/.493. He stole 39 bases and led the league with 16 triples despite hitting the disabled list two different times with hamstring injuries.

prince was offered 20 a year; he didn’t take it.

who cares about prince? i’m guessing reyes is backing off his anti milwaukee stance since the offers like 6/90 aren’t up to his level.  Reyes does way more for this team than fielder would

There was an anti-Milwaukee stance? When did this come out?

Fielder is a better player than Reyes and alot more consistant. Reyes has been hurt alot over the last 5 years with leg injuries.

Please, DD. Get Reyes. He fixes everything. Ryan Raburn/Ramon Santiago platoon would work just fine if you got Reyes.

Sad to see him leave NY, but Milwaukee would be the best place for him IMO
