Indians Considering Casey Kotchman

Free agent first baseman Casey Kotchman is on the Indians' radar, tweets SI's Jon Heyman.  Heyman says the Tribe is looking at every everyday first baseman aside from Prince Fielder and Albert Pujols.  Earlier today, Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports tweeted that the Indians are "focused on either a first baseman or complementary outfielder."

Kotchman was one of the year's best minor league signings, as he hit .306/.378/.422 for the Rays in 563 plate appearances.  He ranked 36th on my top 50 free agents list.

What about moving Grady to first to help prevent injuries?

I hope they’re considering him a horrible addition to the team

1 year/$3.5MM with a $1MM buyout and a $3.5MM club option seems reasonable.

You can’t do much worse than LaPorta.  I’m fine with it, plus he adds some veteran leadership on a young team, plus hes only 2 years older than Laporta and can play defense.

Crotchman (we called him Crotchman when he played for the Rays :P) is a really great 1st basemen, excellent defense, great hitter, good hustler. He’d be fantastic for the Indians.
