Twins Inquired On David Murphy

The Twins inquired on Rangers outfielder David Murphy, tweets ESPN's Jayson Stark.  However, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets that the Rangers are reluctant to compromise their outfield depth.

Murphy, 30, hit .275/.328/.401 in 440 plate appearances this year while playing all three outfield positions.  Murphy is arbitration eligible for the second time this winter and MLBTR projects a $3.2MM salary for 2012.

Murphy, in exchange for whom, one wonders?

Hard to believe Murph is 30..  Great 4th outfielder.  Too bad he struggles early in the season, is a monster late in the year.

Not a bad idea should the Twins fail to resign Cuddyer.

If the Rangers are looking for bullpen depth, I wonder if Mijares and a prospect would get this done.

Murph gets into pull-happy mode and looks terrible occassionally, but when he focusses opposite field, he’s a good hiiter, and is made really for a team with a big outfield, so that right field fence won’t be a temptation like it is in Arlington

True, they have their own bullpen issues, but its become apparent that Twins Management does not see Mijares as a long term solution. If anything, he has become expendable with Duensing moving back to the rotation.

I don’t know what the Rangers bullpen needs are, but I am pretty sure they could handle a project like Mijares.
