« Astros Interested In Prior | Main | Johan Santana Looking For $140MM? »
I run ads from a lot of different sources on this site, and there are so many different ones that I don't approve them individually. I've received a few complaints in recent days about suggestive ads appearing on the site, and I'd like to get rid of 'em. If you'd like to help, take a screen shot of any ad you consider questionable and send it to me at dierkes@gmail.com. Then I can figure out the source and block it. Thanks for your patience.

Tim, I loved that ad! :(

All I know is that as long as ads like the web chat ads (with some chick sitting on her couch, etc.) are here, I won't be able to check this site out at work.

I have no problems with the ads. Actually they make for a easier source for when we talk about rumors. i.e. kissyface says that the Phillies are interested in Otsuka.

Yep, those are the ones, from the True dating site. I am in the process of figuring out which network is serving 'em.

I'm with V about the web chat ads. I've already had to hastily click off the site a few times.

I can understand the issues with these types of ads, but they are fairly innocent and I have seen worse. I don't see where they are NSFW, but I can imagine some workplaces are more restrictive than others.

Its the ads that talk ( how many times can I be chosen for a wii or i phone) that rat me out at work more than some chick in a bikini- but solved that by trying to remember to to turn off speakers before clicking on ( which of course is a signal to those around me that i am online again so I am damned if i do damned if i don't ). Also not a big fan of blinking ads but there have been less of those lately

"kissyface says that the Phillies are interested in Otsuka"
Now that is just plain old funny. Well played, sir.
Posted by: jnr98 | December 14, 2007 at 10:01 AM
That was an ad? I thought she really liked me.
Posted by: ArodSucksAtLife | December 14, 2007 at 10:01 AM
Yeah audio ads are another thing I am trying to stamp out.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | December 14, 2007 at 10:05 AM
if the webchat ad's keep coming I have to leave the site. I love the all black format. It makes is easy for me to read at work. But these sexy webchat ad's are totally NSFW. It looks like I'm webchatting with some hot 21 year old. Mind you, I think she's cute, but I am not into "web chating" and would like to continue reading about baseball trade rumors whilst I act like I am working. Please get rid of them. thanks!

They have been blocked now. Let me know if you still see them.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | December 14, 2007 at 10:25 AM
Yeah, I still see them
Posted by: LJFAR | December 14, 2007 at 10:36 AM
Yeah, the true ads are still there.
Posted by: jeff7602 | December 14, 2007 at 10:43 AM
I still see them here as well. Like "touchmymonkey" said, the ones with the audio are far more undesirable.
Posted by: JR | December 14, 2007 at 10:44 AM
The main one I could do without is the one that flashes black and white, like it's *trying* to give someone a seizure. :P
Posted by: ScooterPie | December 14, 2007 at 11:19 AM
I still see them also...I wonder if maybe it takes a few hours for their servers to update.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | December 14, 2007 at 11:41 AM
Yeah, I'm getting the one with the girl lying on her bed chatting away with me. My coworkers are passing by looking at me funny. They must think I'm some sort of predator.
Posted by: Chillin | December 14, 2007 at 11:45 AM
OK so they said it would take 2-3 hours to come down...so if you are still seeing True ads after 2pm CST please let me know.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | December 14, 2007 at 12:00 PM
Wow Google let that through? Jeez. They do let you block by URL so that's good. And coming soon Google will allow for review of ads prior to putting them on your site.

Also an FYI, I am trying to disable all religious ads (been seeing some lately).
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | December 14, 2007 at 12:31 PM
disable religious ads? well i guess that means there will be a mlbtraderumors.com in hell lol. And I was so close to becoming a mormon ;o)
Posted by: touchmymonkey | December 14, 2007 at 01:42 PM
I also notice at the very bottom of the ad ( in the same box) is a link for redsox tix - that some sort of Romney connection going on there?
Posted by: touchmymonkey | December 14, 2007 at 01:44 PM
Shenanigans!!! Those kissyface ads were the best, they sure made rumor hunting a lot more fun. The talking ads are worse, those will get me in trouble at work.
Don't get too PC Tim, this is getting ridiculous people need some thicker skin, if I come here for trade rumors and I'm "exposed" to a religious ad or whatever how could I possibly be offended? It's not my website.
Posted by: sdodger | December 14, 2007 at 02:04 PM
Reiterating others here, the really annoying ads are the audio ads ("Youve been selected to receive a free...").
If Mormon ads are popping up it could very well be keywording with "Boston". But religious ads dont bother me, its just when the ads are audio-intrusive.
Posted by: el clash combo | December 14, 2007 at 02:37 PM
I dont know about anyone else but...I am totally offended by the "How Can I Fix My FIBROMYALGIA" and "NEW YORK BOAT SHOW" ads...
...makes me think I'm in the demographic...
Posted by: basemonkey | December 14, 2007 at 02:50 PM
Yeah anyone getting audio from this site, please screenshot the ad and shoot it over.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | December 14, 2007 at 02:54 PM
I am really gonna miss kissyface and lilrockgal, they added something to my rumor hunting. Just don't get the same charge from Fibromyalgia and BevMo.
Posted by: ibtorgy | December 14, 2007 at 03:08 PM
Religious ads are fine (I don't really think anybody'll be offended or anything), but talking and flashing ads suck.
Posted by: johansantana17 | December 14, 2007 at 03:43 PM
That one chick was pretty hot though.
Posted by: johansantana17 | December 14, 2007 at 03:59 PM
I already miss kissyface27. I won't be as happy visiting this site without being greeted by her delicious rack. Now there is just some fat chick selling something...I didn't care to look at the product because she is fat, old, and ugly.
Posted by: GlenallenHill | December 14, 2007 at 04:25 PM
hahaha..yah im pretty sure im going to have to open up tru.e com in another window now while viewing the site...i miss her :(
