Ponson Released By Rangers

The Dallas Morning-News is reporting that the Rangers were unable to trade Sidney Ponson and have now placed him on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

On June 6, the Rangers DFA'd Ponson for "disrespectful and adverse reactions to situations unbecoming of teammates." The Rangers had 10 days to work a deal for the pitcher with a 4-1 record and 3.88 ERA.

Cork Gaines writes for Rays Index and can be reached here.

Provided he didn't burn any bridges on the way out of St. Louis last year, I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up there.

If he'd take a minor league deal, I wouldn't mind him in Richmond. You can never have too much pitching depth. Of course he'd have to do something about his additude before playing for Bobby.

He sucks and has a bad attitude/behavioral problems. Why would anyone touch this guy?

a 4-1 record and 3.88 ERA sucks these days?

Maybe not, but a career 4.90 ERA and 1.47 WHIP kinda do.
