« Odds and Ends: Teixeira, Dickey, Takahashi | Main | Giants Sign Randy Johnson »
According to Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs are eyeing Japanese pitchers Ken Kadokura (righty) and Shigeki Noguchi (lefty) for bullpen roles. Sullivan says both were released by the Yomiuri Giants, and part of the Cubs' motivation may be to make Kosuke Fukudome feel more comfortable.

I say go for it! Anything that has a chance of making him hit like he did to start the season is well worth it.

I agree go for it. We are going to need the bullpen help. Would they sign them to a minor league deal?

Doesn't it seem like they're babying Kosuke? I mean its like hey maybe if with give him a friend hell hit lol give me a break...

i say dont go after Ken Kadokura, because his Japanese stats are not that good and hes 35 years old. Maybe if we sign him to a minor league deal, but other then that no thank you. I wouldn't mind Shigeki Noguchi for the bull pen even though he as had a weak few years beside that breakout year in 2001 where he had a 2.46 era, 193.2 IP, and had 187 K's.

I agree cheap bullpen help would be good. Can we sign these 2 for minor league with spring training invite?

I looked at the baseballcube and both of these guys haven't had a near decent year since around 2004 or so. Since then they've been terrible. Can you say Shingo Takatsu? Remember how bad he was in spring training last year?
Why haven't the Cubs signed Adam Dunn yet? No one is asking about him, and they could get him for a bargain right now. Sure, he'd be tough in the outfield, but his bat would be awesome in the clean up spot. Bradley doesn't want to play for us, otherwise he'd already have signed. We're going to end up overpaying for a hurt player who hurts the clubhouse chemistry instead of one who'd hit 50 HR playing most of his games at Wrigley.

yep,we need dunn over any of the other hitters available via free agency.he would be the perfect fit.if not, trade for matsui from the yankeees.they want him gone, and would eat alot of his salary.and he could be friends with fukodome.and the pitchers only if they are signed to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training.
