Jon Paul Morosi of the Detroit Free Press has the latest on the Tigers.
- GM Dave Dombrowski wasn't sure Edgar Renteria would turn down an offer of arbitration, and he didn't feel two draft picks were worth the risk.
- Discussions with the Pirates regarding Jack Wilson are ongoing, but concrete proposals have yet to be exchanged.
- The Tigers have interest in free agent catcher Gregg Zaun. Zaun, 38 in April, hit .237/.340/.359 in 288 plate appearances this year while earning $3.75MM.
- Morosi adds that the Tigers also like Marlins catcher Matt Treanor, but no deal is imminent. MLB.com's Joe Frisaro wrote yesterday that the Marlins are shopping Treanor. He speculated that the Fish could be setting themselves up to sign Ivan Rodriguez.
That would just be special to have Pudge back in Florida, not only for the team to try an get more than 5K in the stands but for Pudge to come full circle on his career and finish there.

Jack Wilson and Ronny Paulino can be shipped to Detroit why would they rather have Zaun?

From all the names I read about in the Rule 5 draft I think the Pirates should go after Daniel Mayora from Colorado.
We let Luis Rivas go and replace him with Mayora. I know he has only been at high A but his glove is ready and that should carry him on the Bucs roster.
Get a starter for Jack Wilson and Ronny Paulino. Maybe Zach Miner and Freddy Dolsi. I dont know but Detroit looks like a nice trade partner for the Bucs.

What about Armando Galarraga, Micheal Holliman, Eddie Bonine and Ryan Raburn for Jack Wilson and Matt Capps. That would give the Pirates 2 starters(though i think Galarraga was a fluke this season), a SS to replace Wilson, and someone who can cover 2nd/3rd/outfield/catcher and who would play better in the national league

Yea as a Pirate fan I would do that but Detroit wont.
