Chiba Lotte Marines Offer Three Years To Iguchi

According to Kyodo News, the Chiba Lotte Marines made a three-year, 600 million yen (about $6.45MM) offer to free agent second baseman Tadahito Iguchi.  It's hard to imagine he'd pass on that for a minor league deal worth less than a million bucks here in the States.

JW how long its gonna be til the NPB is competing with the MLB for top tier free agents. (if ever) any thoughts?

Good luck to you Guch! I will always remember your 3 run jack off a David Wells curveball in the '05 playoffs.

There goes a real talented player. Guch should have been given more of a chance in the States.

An exceptionally talented player for 2 1/2 seasons with the Sox, and boy did he ever come up big for the Phillies in '07. I can't believe there's no market for him out here.

Outside of a great '05, he really wasn't that good.

That's a great observation. Can you imagine the reactions by all of the "baseball doesn't need a salary cap" people if Japan landed Pujols? LOL

Also, I have a dumb question : can mlb teams make trades with teams in Japan?

And finally, thank you Tadahito for helping to bring a very rare World Series to Chicago.
