« Week In Review: 3/22 - 3/29 | Main | Dodgers Make Offer To Will Ohman »
According to MLB.com's Alyson Footer last night, the Astros released David Newhan. Newhan wasn't pleased that he had to read about his exclusion from the backup shortstop competition on MLB.com rather than hearing about it from manager Cecil Cooper.
The 35 year-old Newhan hit .182/.308/.182 in 38 plate appearances this spring.

Yeah, they probably should've told Newhan first, but honestly he really didn't deserve the job.
Even he must have known that he sucks.

I agree that they should have told him first. But I'm stumped why guys like Newhan are really shocked when they get released after not being able to hit their weight.

dwg184,
Your spelling and grammar are the true disgrace. Seriously, at least attempt to sound educated when you’re trying to run down a team.

The guys 35 and hasn't played but 2 professional games at short. He can't hit, and has played mostly in the outfield while in majors. Did he really expect to be considered? They already had several guys that can play short that need game time.
