Another term for the MLBTR Glossary...
Players who violate the terms of their contract can be placed on the disqualified list, which prevents them from collecting service time and money. For example, the Nationals threatened to put Alfonso Soriano on the disqualified list when he refused to play the outfield in 2006, as this AP story shows.

The Cubs should threaten to put Alfonso Soriano on the disqualified list if he refuses to bat anywhere but leadoff.

@Melonis
Soriano doesn't refuse to bat anywhere, he just says hes "less comfortable" anywhere else, for some reason unknown to intelligent society. To be fair to him, he's said he'd bat in other spots in the order, but Lou keeps putting him back in leadoff. If anyone is to blame, I'd say it's Lou.

Why doesn't Soriano insist on being such a bitch all the time?
Mehh suck it up, bat fifth, play left, take your $136M, shut up, play better, and stop sucking god damnit.
The only problem is that I have no idea who you bat leadoff then. Theriot? Fukudome?
Trade for Felipe Lopez?

the disqualified list link in the glossary doesn't lead to any explaination.

Soriano's got a really low BABIP, which means his BA and his OBP will eventually come up, but his LD% is also down.
For now, I'd do Theriot at leadoff. Speed and a decent OBP. When A-Ram gets back, Lou could try Fukudome at leadoff, but I'm not sure.

Soriano has never been a strong OBP guy. He puts up a decent average when not getting killed by BABIP and has a ton of power, which makes him much more valuable in the number 5 spot where he can drive people in.

Hey Devmac- thanks.
Should be better now.

Theriot thrived in a brief stint as a leadoff man. I'd give him a shot.

Why have Lee as a 2 hole guy? Fukudome has a stronger OBP and is faster. Lee should probably hit cleanup or third in that lineup.
