Dodgers Acquire Osvaldo Martinez

The latest minor moves from around MLB…

  • The Dodgers acquired minor league infielder Osvaldo Martinez from the White Sox for cash considerations, Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times tweets. Martinez, 24, had a .178/.221/.229 batting line in 230 plate appearances for Chicago's top affiliate this year. The White Sox acquired him last fall in the deal that sent manager Ozzie Guillen to Miami.

White Sox continue to reap benefits from Ozzie going to the Marlins!!

  2. Why would you want or take a guy hitting .178?

    • Dodgers need SS depth right now with Gordon out.

      • You must be kidding???  If this guy is depth, I still have a chance at playing pro ball.

Minor league utility player. Time to get over it!

          • Does a minor league utility guy hit with one hand tied behind his back???  If the Dodgers depth is that thin, it doesnt say much about there drafting/scouting departments.

Or in your case, not time to get over it.

          • Exactly my point…..

Correction then: In your case never a time to get over it.

          • And you still have not realized that this entire conversation is a joke.  Both the transaction itself, and the thread.  Not a person on this baseball website read “.187 BA” & middle infeilder” and needed your help understanding what Martinez is (a ULT. player/Depth).  So learn to take a joke and get over yourself.

You are the one making it into a joke. If you will read you will understand that I and just about everyone else here understand how completely unimportant this is.

          • Well said.  Some “kids” just dont understand.

  3. Their goes our future shortstop, what a steal for the dodgers.

Someone always has to post inane comments like that.  Hopefully for most folks here it happens once and then they realize how they come across and it never happens again.

Unfortunately the inanity is an endless supply.

  8. dee is out , dont have options at ss at AAA, get over it.

  9.  Regardless of how much this acquisition does or doesn’t make sense, it’s still ok to joke right? C’mon people, stop taking these things so seriously…

His defense is as bad as his offense. Last time I checked, he had 17 errors.

During the All Star Game “softball game” The beautiful Haley Reinhart would have been a better aquisition.

Seeing as to how the Dodgers depth is thin due to all the injuries this makes sense. Utility help is help bat or not. The Dodgers need a warm uninjured body with a little MLB experience and this fits the bill. Will be AAA fodder or released once the team regains some health.

It’s totally hilarious how this thread on a total non-event has grown to nearly 30 comments. I mean, it doesn’t even rise to the level of trivial. And yet…!

  16. condorave 3 years ago

Yeah about 30 comments. You sir are responsible for nearly half of them.
