Amid rumors that the Red Sox are doing everything they can to move him, Julio Lugo missed a mandatory team workout and didn't travel to Toronto with his teammates for their upcoming series against the Blue Jays. As Adam Kilgore of the Boston Globe reports, manager Terry Francona said Lugo missed the workout because of a mix-up.

i haven't watched lugo much, but obviously he's been mostly worthless during his time with the red sox. if he gets released i actually wouldn't mind the cubs picking him up on a minor league deal like they did with ryan. have him play second and if he's even got a league average bat he'll be a big upgrade at what we have at second right now. have him platoon with fontenot (lugo is RH, right?)

As a cubs fan, I dont want lugo. He is really awful. The only 2B they will possibly trade for is freddy sanchez, and now they wont get him. Cubs look like they are done unfortunately....

ESAD, Lugo. You've been worthless from even before Theo signed you to an outrageous contract, and you'll be worthless even after you're released.
Can't wait to be rid of wifebeater for good.

Release Lugo, bring in Lowrie, plays all infield positions, except 1st. Green can too. You got 2 weeks to evaluate the situation. Lowell is going to be fine.
OK, one mistake made by Theo, drop it and move on.

As A Sox fan dont trade him to the Cubs, if we cant win the World Series I want the Cubs to.
I am still, confused as how we won in 2007, with Lugo.

The Sox won in 2007 because they were just digustingly good. Lugo was just a body on a team that was really good.

as far as ive seen this year lugo has been hitting the way we hoped he would but injury cost him his job and poor defense sealed the deal i think he would be a useful player on another team though ,dh maybe there is no place for him on the sox

"Below average glove"? How about league worst UZR. That's the percentage of balls hit to his position that are turned into outs. Kinda what fielding is all about. He's even worse than Jeter!
We'll give you Willis, Bonderman, Guillen, and Robertson for Lugo. Then, the Tigers can release him.
